I'm finished!! (Pics)

So I'm finially finished Invisalign after about 16 months including refinements. Delighted to be finished, though not so happy that I've to wear my top retainer full time for 6 months - have a permanent wire behind bottom front teeth so only have to wear a retainer at night on the lower arch. I had ...

Hi From what i've read on here & other forums most people do seem to need refinements. I've read of a few people not needing them though. For some people it can be as long as regular treatment but i definitely don't think this is the norm. When I went for refinements my ortho said the average is...

So I went back to my ortho yesterday for my refinements. Delighted to find out I only have 4 more upper and 5 more lower sets.
Only have two attachments as well (I had 8 in my initial treatment). So happy it's not too many new aligners to get through

Only 10 weeks to go, I can't wait!

Thanks so much Ems. Sorry to hear you're not happy with yours so far, hopefully your refinements go well. 12 weeks is a really long time to wait. My ortho told me that the wait for refinements would actually be shorter than the wait for the original trays so it does seem unusual you've been waiting ...

Thanks kezza and KUmonkeymomma! The photos make them look better than they do in real life. My lateral incisor that stuck out really bad (aka my snaggle tooth) still needs to be pulled in a tiny bit and my bite still needs a little fixing. My ortho reckons I'll have maybe 5 or 6 more aligners. He di...

Awaiting refinements (before & after pics)

Hi I had my impressions done today for refinements after finishing 26 upper and 14 lower aligners. I'm happy so far with the results, hopefully I won't need too many new aligners. Here's some pics at the beginning of my treatment. I'll post some as my teeth are today afterwards... http://i652.photob...

Thanks for the update cazzie. I'll be interested to hear how the fixed brace goes for you. My lateral incisor is the tooth that needs most movement but doesn't have an attachment. I hate the idea of refinements with Invisalign - all that waiting around with nothing happening. I'm on my last tray for...

Hi paramed1 1. I think leaving them out for an entire shift is a really bad idea. If you get a call while they're out I'd just put them back in really quickly without brushing your teeth, it only takes a couple of seconds. It's probably better to have them in without brushed teeth than not in at all...

Hi h20gal I had both of my upper wisdom teeth extracted before starting Invisalign. However, I actually got mine out AFTER getting my impressions done so not sure how much advice I can give you. My ortho went ahead with the impressions with the wisdom teeth still in place and asked Invisalign to pro...

My ortho said I should be aiming for 300 hours over the two weeks. So that's about 21.5 hours a day. I usually have mine in for more like 22.5 hours a day though, I try to have them in for as long as possible. I'm always a bit shocked by people on here who say they leave theirs out for 8 hours a day...

I found that the actual hooks rubbed the inside of my cheek, especially the one on my upper canine. It was pretty sore for a couple of days until I got used to it but now it's fine, I don't really notice it's there any more. I'm sure it'll pass once your mouth gets used to it, it'll develop a resist...

Hi beebee22

Thanks for the info. Sounds like there's a few of us here who have elastics to correct overbites/stop front teeth moving forward.

I don't know how long i'll need the elastic but I've had it for nearly 2 weeks now & am used to it so I don't mind having it for a long time if it works.

Thanks tizzy :) Well you were right, my jaw pain has gotten a lot better. Still get the occasional twinge when I eat but it's not as bad & i'm not getting headaches as much. Sounds similar to you - it was only sore when the elastic was off for eating. I can already feel a difference in my teeth ...
