Hang in there! You should be able to get used to it in a few weeks time. Just a side note: some people may develop a temporary space between their front teeth during the expansion process. Your orthodontist will then close it later, or sometimes, it'll just close in its own.

You can check your overbite yourself. Normal overbite is 2-3mm both horizontally and vertically. Anything over 3mm would usually be considered an excess overbite.

Hang in there

6 months may seem like a long time, and I know you've had the braces for a while already, but in the grand scheme of things, 6 months will fly by. And at the end of it all, I bet you'll say it was worth it. You don't want to be second guessing your decision several years down the road....just by 2 c...

Chapstick is a good idea. IPR usually doesn't hurt, but can feel a little bumpy or smell a little dusty. What I remember most about getting braces was the spacers which hurt a little. Getting the first wires placed made my teeth a little sore too.

Top Only Invisalign

If you just want to get your top teeth straightened, this may be possible, but sometimes this may not totally work because your bite may prevent your teeth from moving properly. Thought you just want your top teeth straightened, your doctor may still want you to wear a lower Invisalign aligner so th...

Invisalign

Hang in there! Invisalign can take some getting used to, especially talking with them. After about a week, you should be able to talk ok with them. If you are talking in front of your class, you can take them out and put them pack after your done speaking. =D

Refinements

Sometimes even after refinements, some teeth still may not look perfect. In these cases, sometimes your orthodontist may put a couple of braces on your teeth to finish the final movements. The use of braces in this instance is pretty quick and usually only takes a few months to get the final result.

PCs

As long as your brackets don't break off your teeth, your teeth shouldn't start overlapping. If you've never had PCs before, the first time is usually a little sore. Future visits should be a lot better. Hang in there!

box elastics

Usually when your orthodontist has you wearing box elastics, it's to get your teeth on the top and bottom to touch more. If they are already touching, it's usually to keep them that way.

brushing

Brushing shouldn't really hurt. Sometimes, after you just got your braces tightened, your teeth will be a little sore. Make sure that you don't brush too hard because that could cause damage to your teeth and gums. Flossing too helps a lot. I know it's tough to floss with the braces, but a little fl...

Colors

Usually, orthodontists don't like putting colors on Damon braces. However, I know some people that have bugged their orthodontist about getting colors, and sometimes your orthodontist will compromise with you by just putting the colored ties on the top front teeth. Some orthodontist don't like using...

All I can say is stick with the orthodontic wax. After a while, your lip and cheeks will get tougher. I know it's tougher, but stick with it and in the end it'll all be worth it!

How long to get braces?

In depends on the office. Usually, you will come in for a consultation with the orthodontist. If you decide to proceed with treatment, the staff there may take records that same day, and then schedule you to come back to get braces. Sometimes, they may schedule you to come back for records or even g...
