Thanks everyone! Had my appt this morning - my ortho put in closing loops. It's only been about 1 1/2 hours since my appt and I can tell my teeth are going to be sore! Worth it to get the gaps closed though. :) The bright spot of today - he removed the Nance appliance that I've had for about 9 month...

I don't have any input about fixed vs. removable retainers...just a question. My ortho uses fixed on the bottom, removable on top. If he places a fixed on the bottom am I going to have to use floss threaders for the rest of my life? I was a much better flosser before I had all this "gear" ...

Closing extraction gaps?

Hi all - I had extractions back in Feb and was braced in March with Nance appliance. Uppers only until July when lowers were added. Since then ortho has been focused on correcting my overbite and I've had big gaps where I used to have teeth. At my last visit he said that by my next visit they'll be ...

Hang in there with your nance - it will get better. I've had one for about 9 months now and it really doesn't bother me at all any more. I do quite a bit of presenting and training at work, and was really worried when I first got mine, but it's fine now. I do notice changes from time to time - I'm a...

Thanks everyone for the quick responses and suggestions! I figured the WaterPik wasn't a substitute for flossing. The good news is the soreness has eased up and I've been able to floss for the last couple days. It also helps that my teeth are moving some and there are some bigger spaces between them...

Flossing??

I've had braces (uppers only at this point) for 2 days now...I'm curious about flossing. I've got several kinds of floss and floss threaders but - my teeth are so sore it really hurts to floss. I've got a Water Pik and have been using that instead of flossing. I asked the orthodontist if a water pik...

Hi all - I'm 40 later this year and just had braces put on. Uppers with a Nance appliance. Lowers to come later - I've got a really bad overbite, and the lower braces can't be placed until the upper teeth have moved around some. Response so far has been really positive - a couple of people have even...

Wow - I'm similar to a couple of you. I had 2 pre-molars removed right about a month ago to prep for braces. Monday I had upper braces and Nance appliance put on. Rak - try not to worry about the extractions - they aren't nearly as bad as you're thinking. I was worried about it but my experience was...

New Nance too

Hi all - I just got upper braces and a Nance on Monday. I'm still trying to get used to it all - sore teeth, stuff in the roof of my mouth - ugh!! I agree with the poster who said that this takes the fun out of eating - it's so much effort. I bought a water pik and have found that it's great for cle...
