I'll be 21 in June and I have metal braces. Yeah, the light colors do stain...right now I have a light blue powerchain on top and it went green after a few days (I drink a lot of Diet Coke ) but I really like the periwinkle/light purple, it actually didn't stain too bad. I've had dark blue, lig...

Hi! :D I'm 20, will be 21 soon and have been in metal braces for almost a year now. I had an impacted upper canine and I'm happy to say that it has already grown in! My ortho created a space for it using springs and luckily for me, the tooth came right on down! My ortho put a bracket on it as soon a...

I've had 3 molar bands for almost a year and, like the others, don't even notice they're there. :D I've only had one 6 month cleaning since being braced (next one is in a month) but have had no cavities so far. The only time they've ever caused me any discomfort is when they first put them on and I ...

Hiya! Congrats on your braces! :D I had a crossbite as well (my lower canine stuck out in front of my upper teeth) and I was amazed at how quickly it straightened out (I don't think he used anything fancy to fix it, either...no elastics or anything, just a wire)! There will probably be a few times d...

I had two molars pulled a few years prior to braces that my ortho has been closing up for me, so I'm kinda in the same boat. :) The first one was closed by bringing my very last molar forward, into the spot of the extracted tooth. It's taken a few months but the gap's pretty much gone, and now I've ...

@dml : That's definitely good news that they move teeth much faster than elastics! Makes it all worth it, I guess! :) I do have one elastic, though, on the same side as the spring that goes from the very back molar to my canine, to close the gap made by my extraction. There's a lot going on in that...

Nevermind my question about when you got them on, I read your signature. :) I got mine April 23, 2008. You're a month ahead of me!

Thanks so much for the reply! That was fast! :D But oh man, I can't imagine having a spring put on the same day as my braces. How long ago did you get them on, and how are you feeling now? It's exciting to know that things are moving along, and that more appliances mean more movement...but still! Do...

Springs anyone?

My last adjustment was March 4th, and my ortho asked me if I'd be okay with him going ahead and installing my spring...as if I really I had a choice! I've known since my consultation that this day would come, and for a split second I was actually excited because I felt it meant my teeth had pr...

I change mine 3 times a day...usually in the morning after I brush my teeth, between lunch and dinner, and then again at night. I only have one elastic right now and it doesn't go from top to bottom so my ortho told me not to worry about taking it out to eat. :D
