Congratulations!! You did it!! I'm sorry you're not feeling well. The first few days are the worst. I promise it gets better! :-) I had a Lefort 1 (upper jaw surgery) on July 1st. As far as sneezing and coughing goes, just be careful like the other people mentioned. I was so worried the first time I...

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies. My only concern is that I can't reach them. Yes, the products are great!! I don't know what I would have done without them in the beginning!! I just wanted to make sure they hadn't gone out of business.

Happy Healing!

zip n- squeeze - can't reach by phone or email ?

Has anyone had difficulty reaching the zip and squeeze company? I ordered products from them about 2 weeks ago and still haven't received anything. I tried calling their number and the mail box has been full for a week. I tried emailing them and it comes back undeliverable? I paid for the products v...

I am 5 weeks post op from a Lefort 1 (upper jaw surgery). My OS gave me permission to take off my bands to eat about 2 weeks ago. He said I could eat anything I could cut with a fork. I have been VERY careful as I don't want to hurt my jaw or choke. I have mostly survived on smoothies, soup, and cut...

Hi there,

I'm exactly 5 weeks from having a Lefort 1. I went out for lunch the other day. I was quite nervous!! I had a smoothie and it went quite well. Just take it slow and have plenty of napkins available!!

I would suggest soup, milkshake, smoothie or anything that goes down easily.

I'm one month from a Lefort 1 . I can relate to the smile! I still can't smile. My OS told me to practice in the car. He said it will eventually come back. He suggested blowing kisses, goofy smiles in the car. (hopefully no one is looking) :-)

Here's to a healthy recovery.

AF104 & Ozzy's mom: Thanks for your replies. It definitely sounds like the TM joint. When I went to my orthodontist last week he changed the configuration of my rubber bands. He said there was a slight overbite and put me in a triangle configuration. It seems like it started to hurt after that. ...

sharp pain near left ear?

Hi-

I am one month from having a Lefort 1. I am experiencing some new pain. It started a few days ago. I get a shooting pain near my left ear. If I don't take motrin in exactly 4 hours it really hurts!!

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

Kerry,

Congrats!! You did it!! I am just a month into my recovery. The first few days were hard!! IT DOES GET BETTER!! I would get my fluids through a syringe. You will actually feel better when you are hydrated.

Ozzy's Mom & Lingualtia Ozzy's Mom : Hi there, It looks like you had a Lefort 1. I am exactly one month into my recovery. I read your post and it stated you had your surgery 9 months ago. I was wondering if you could give us (Lingualita & I) some advice on what to expect during recovery. I'v...

I'm glad I could help. I was surprised to see so many similarities! You are the first person/post that resembles my situation. My OS& ortho did not think I needed the lower jaw surgery or chin implant. I only had to have the Lefort 1. I was HOPING the braces would do the trick. However, I ...

Hi there, I just had a Lefort 1 on July 1st. to correct a narrow palate, overjet, and open bite. So far, the surgery has been quite successful. There have been some interesting side effects, but nothing major!!! I read your posting and viewed your pictures. It looks like you have a very similar mout...

Hi Blindboarder, Thanks for your reply. I'm so glad to hear that it's "NORMAL." I originally had the box style (from oral surgeon) and now my ortho has switched to the triangle configuration. The assistant showed me my before pictures and it was such a realization how things have progresse...

first orthodontist appt. after surgery?

I went to my first orthodontist visit yesterday. I was a little nervous. I was afraid they would want to touch inside my mouth. YIKES!! Fortunately, they didn't want to do any adjustments. He looked at me and said things look good, BUT I ABOUT FELL OFF THE CHAIR. He stated that I still had a slight ...

OUCH!! I have braces and have surgical hooks that I attach bands to. You have really nice, straight teeth. Did you ever resolve the pain in the gums and teeth? Did the orajel work? I am noticing now that the swelling is going down I am feeling more. (not pain, but a little more discomfort) I t...
