I'm in the same boat!! Where I live it is quite warm so my mouth is constantly dry!!!
I bought some medicated blistex and it seems to help a little bit.
I just keep forcing water down!!!
If you find anything that works, let us know!
Thanks

Good luck on Friday!! There is a post at the top of this forum that is excellent. (think its called post-op supplies) It is very informative. I had upper jaw surgery, and had a lot of problems with congestion. I highly recommend having lots of ice packs! Liquid motrin or tylenol to take away the edg...

I haven't tried orajel. I am using children's motrin every 4 hours and it seems to help. Do you still have pain meds? My OS gave me a second refill because I was still in pain after the first week. I hope you feel better soon. I was quite anxious to be able to take off my bands and eat ( soup, apple...

Hi there, Good luck on your upcoming surgery! I had a Lefort 1 on July 1 and am healing quite well. There is a post (on the top few lines) that has a pre-op list. IT'S GREAT!! I would also HIGHLY recommend the ice packs!! I kept mine on 24/7. Have liquid (childrens) motrin. It helps take the e...

I had my Lefort 1 on July 1. I still have some swelling on my left side. My right side is noticeably more swollen!! It's frustrating. On occasion, I feel lopsidesd (LOL). I saw my oral surgeon yesterday and he said doing facial exercises, (blowing kisses, goofy smiles, etc. ) would help with the swe...

Hi CATS, Wow!! Sounds incredibly painful. My jaw surgery is elective. I had a Lefort 1 3 piece. My jaw was very narrow and had an overjet. I had my surgery on the 1st. It has been an experience. I am really trying to get used to the liquid diet. I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and somedays I j...

Thanks for your replies. I'm guessing that I'm not sleeping because Im not tired. I'm not doing as much as I normally do. I have finally resorted to Tylenol PM to get more than a few hours of sleep. My next questions would be: 1. What can I expect in the next few weeks, months of recovery? 2. Will m...

What to expect?
Hi June Crew, I am officially 2 weeks post op. I went to my OS one week post op and he said he wasn't ready to remove or loosen any bands. I go again on Friday the 17th. I have been eating out of the zip and squeeze bags for 2 weeks. I am hoping that I will be able to eat mashed potatoes, apple sauc...

Kerry, HOW EXCITING!!! I know the feeling. It is odd to be excited about something so gorry. The benefits are going to outweigh the gorry parts. I had a Lefort 1 (upper jaw) surgery on July 1, 2009. Everything went very well. Will you have any upper jaw surgery performed? A few bits of advice: ( I w...
