No I wouldn't add them unless I was already friends. Be careful... this this reminds me a "Curb Your Enthusiasm" episode where Larry's dentist invites him round to dinner, and he makes an excuse to get out of it, gets caught out, and then find himself in need of emergency dental , and of c...

I got mine in July, and after a week or so it's much easier. After about 2 months I eat everything as normal, except nuts and toffee(!)

Good comebacks? Well since I have braces I've tried to avoid saying anything likely to get my teeth knocked out by someone ;) Seriously, no comeback needed. It's natural to stare when you see something a bit different, in fact, now I have braces, I stare even longer at other people with braces just ...

Yes I'd expect to deal with the actual orthodontist. As others have said maybe it's different in the UK, but over here the assistants over here just 'assist'. Assistant or orthodontist, the fact that if its someone different every time would make me say something (it's your teeth and your money, no ...

I have clear ceramic on top and metal on the bottom. The clear ones are much nicer when you see yourself in photos as they don't look so obvious. That said, in real life it's pretty obvious when I smile that I have braces. I have avoided curry, but I drink about 4 cups of tea and 1 coffee a day, and...

For me it's not just how they look, it's just the nuisance of having to take bands out to eat, and then put them back in. Very annoying when going out for the evening.

That's reassuring to know. Thanks. Anyone know the reasons for this? Something to do with the nerve at the end of the tooth being moved I'm guessing? I know very little about these things - but do find it interesting :)

Really Sensitive Teeth

My front teeth really hurt when I drink anything cold. Water and beer (the two things I drink a lot of) being prime examples. Is this normal? I've had braces about 3 months, top and bottom.

Yep braces suck. I'm wearing them now, I'm 24. I figured it would be 18months - 2 years worth of slight discomfort / vs potentially much much longer with crooked teeth (I hope I live to a ripe old age ;) )
So just put up with it. Life's not perfect, but at least you teeth will be in a few months time.

Good luck! Just stock up on soup and portage as you'll be eating just that for a few days. Then it will just feel weird for a few more days, even once the pain has passed.
That will quickly pass and you'll be back to normal after a week or two.

I had 4 premolars out and 2 wisdom teeth, and will probably need at least one more wisdom tooth out since it's growing horizontally(!). I've had braces for about 4 months now. I just wanted to say that I don't miss them in any way(!) Yes for a few weeks I had large gaps, but the brace is doing its j...

I have noticed a new bag of elastics can seem stronger than an old one that's been open for a few weeks, so I can quite see how after a few years they might expire!
