Hello, I have no problems flossing at all. I have STb Light linguals which are positioned near the gum so the floss seems to glide into hard to reach areas no problem. One thing I couldn't live without and that's my SPAMTRONIC SPAMSONIC SPAMONAIDE SPAMSTER SPAM SPAMINATOR water pick, really helps bl...

I've had my linguals for 14 months. I have an appointment every four weeks. I've had my wires changed for new thicker ones three times now on each arch. Teeth will move into weird places before the finished product, so I wouldn't worry about that. I would try and push for an earlier appointment to e...

Hi ana7,

The sore teeth and tongue will improve in no time.

Regarding food, you really need to avoid hard food like nuts, pizza crust, baguettes etc. I've had my linguals for 14 months and no broken brackets. However, I've broken the wire with nuts before !

Good luck with your treatment.

Is it true ?

No it is NOT true that linguals can cause permanent damage by cutting your tongue. Lingual braces can indeed scratch your tongue, as I've experienced a few times, but the tongue soon heals up no problem. The ortho, who I'm assuming doesn't practice with linguals, is scaremongoring. And as drrick sai...

Speech and

Lou Lou, I am in a very similar situation to yourself ! I’ve had my uppers on for two weeks now and have adapted well; tongue has toughened up with the pokey wires, I’m eating a wider variety of food, and have stopped using wax. However, my ortho has also built-up my molars to reduce my overbite...

QT - as long as you have linguals you should be fine. You can do one pack now and another pack when your treatment has finished. I have overcrowding on my front teeth and as treatment progresses (only had uppers on for 1 week!) newly exposed parts of teeth may be a different colour but I'm simply go...

Crest Whitestrips

YES - whitening is possible with linguals. I've used Crest Whitestrips Pro Effects 10 Day Kit. They are AMAZING, the results are astonishing. I'd never had whitening before and my teeth needed a fresh new look and I didn't want to wait til my teeth were straight so I bought the Whitestrips. The stri...

I've seen movement in just a few days, but I think it will be around 4 months before I see any real improvement (based on what I've read, previous posts etc). The thing is lingulas can move in weird ways before they straighten up. However, saying that, I'm loving the progress. I'm off on holiday in ...

xtc - good luck with next week. The whole process is really quick and pain free, just sit back, relax and let the ortho do the work. The linguals will be applied in no time. I have STb light linguals ... So, you may find the i-braces (incognito) better for wires as there's more room to tuck the tie ...

Pokey wires

Unfortunately my ortho only practices in London a couple of days a week and then returns to Paris. Normally his colleauge helps out but he's on holiday ! I think the main problem is that my ortho used multiple wires, maybe a technique to sort out my overcrowding. Therefore there's not just a couple ...

Nutrition on linguals

I've also just had uppers put on this week and found eating a balanced diet a challenge. However, my main diet has been based on: Yogurt; porridge; tuna, pasta, and canned tomatoes; bolognaise (although gets stuck between the wires), fruit juice (as LB said, I drink through a straw to minimise ename...

HELP - Pokey wires ripping my mouth to shreds

New to linguals - had my uppers put on just three days ago. I just wanted to rip them straight out a couple of hours later. Foreign object in the mouth took a while to get used to. However, I have now come to terms with my beloved torture devise and realise that the more attention I give it the less...

Hi

Hi SandraDee, I’m getting my tops on first, bottom linguals will go on a few weeks later. You’re really lucky to have your company pay $2000, and $8500 for treatment is quite low cost. So you’ve had your ibraces on for some time now. How long does it take before the teeth begin to straighten ?...
