Im having the exact same issue. Im afraid its messing up my bite. Ive only been in retainers for 3 days and have gone back to have them checked and the ortho adjusted a few things but its not any better. Maybe it is normal? Its frustrating. The fact that I can hardly speak with them sucks even more.

Will be Hawley's hold my bite?
I got my retainers lastnight and am having one hell of a time trying to speak with them in since I sound like Daffy Duck. Does this ever get any easier? My question is this... my bite was pretty messed up prior to my braces 2.5 years ago. In those 2.5 years with the braces and rubberbands, my bite c...

Randee: For me, when I had my wisdom teeth extracted, it was much easier and less bloody/less painful than when I had two regular adult teeth (not even molars) removed. Maybe because it's such a regular surgery, or maybe because I was readied for worse, it was really not a big deal. Plus they gave ...

WIsdom teeth coming through...
I need some advice! When I initially got my braces on almost 2.5 years ago, the ortho noticed my wisdom teeth and told me I wouldn't yet need them removed. At this time they were impacted. Fast forward to now. I started feeling my wisdom teeth coming up a few weeks ago and whenI looked in the mirror...

I wrote an email to the Dr. lastnight and also mailed a hard copy to the office expressing my concerns. Thanks for your advice, guys! My next appt., I made with the Dr's colleague who helps out one Saturday per month and is much more personable and thourough. I hope he offers me some advice to put m...

Elastic configurations?
Question! I have ZERO faith in my ortho. after my SOS visit lastnight, so I'm hoping someone here could offer me some advice. In July of 2009 I started wearing rubberbands. I have an open bite, a cross bite and at that time, an underbite which was classified as a Class III Maloccolusion. They (bands...

FOR Rubberband users..is this "normal?"
I was wondering if anyone else who is wearing rubberbands has experienced an ear ache? I got the rubberbands last Monday, so it's almost been a week. I didnt start getting an earache until last Thursday or so and its very painful. Im also on a soft food diet because even when I take the bands out to...

Rubberbands.. OUCH!
On Monday night, I started the next chapter of my orthodontic lifestyle. I got rubberbands put in. Let me just say one word and one word only... OUCH! I had no idea the pressure these things cause. I sometimes forget and try to yawn only to be reminded that my mouth can only open so far. I was told ...

You poor thing.. Jaw surgery sounds so scary to me. It was reccomended to me as well since I have a bad bite, but I opted to go this route and try to correct it the best I could with the helix, braces and extraction route. More power to you! Keep me posted Yeah, I'm babying my mouth until its totall...
