I just had my 6 month retainer check appt today and was told I could start experimenting with leaving them out longer and longer until it felt comfortable to wear only at night. I was pretty consistent with my 24/7 wear for my initial 6 months. Half of me is thrilled to be retainer-free during the d...

What does 24/7 wear time really mean???

I am finished my invisalign aligners and now have the invisalign retainers. My ortho was VERY busy during my retainer visit, so I didn't get my answer to this. I asked if I should wear the retainers 24/7 and he said "Well, pretty much, but you could leave them out a bit". I know with the a...

Congrats! That has got to be a great feeling!! Do you happen to know the process of getting the impressions taken for retainers? Do they remove the attachments first, but have you still wear the aligners with the bubbles in them until your retainers come in? Just curious.

I don't generally drink coffee, so I can't help you there. I did, however, drink green tea while wearing one set of retainers and then would rinse them and my mouth afterwards. I didn't have any noticeable stains on the aligners, but they were more "yellowed" than the other sets. I didn't n...

Hi, I am also on a 4 week schedule. I am 36 and am on #5 of 10 u/l. My ortho told me during consult that we would be changing aligners every 3 weeks. However, upon getting my first aligner, he said he now prefers the 4 week schedule. He also said he is seeing much better results with that schedule. ...

I am currently on trays 3 of 10. On tray 2, I did experiment with drinking a diet green tea that is made by Arizona. For the last 4 days or so of that tray I would drink the tea, then rinse with water when finished. It seemed fine, but I still try to stick to water only. I figure it would be more tr...

Well, I am in my mid 30's and on trays 2 of 10 for upper and lower. My ortho wants me to wear them for 4 weeks each. I questioned him about it, and he said after seeing so many cases have problems over the years, they have found that "longer is better". He said that people have good intent...

Thanks for your all your replies! I think I will continue with my 1st trays for the prescribed 4 weeks, and see how things are at my next appointment. If all is going well, maybe he'll let me go back to at least the 3 week schedule. I'm wondering if the IPR that needs to be done, for the first few t...

Sorry to confuse you! I have the invisalign express (10 upper and lower). But to wear each for 4 weeks kinda takes the "express" out of the treatment. I am 35, so maybe ortho wants to take it a bit slower, but 4 weeks is a bit more than I signed on for. And I keep thinking, if I need any r...

4 weeks per aligner??

Hi. I'm currently on week 2 of my first invisalign trays. I was told during my consults that I would need to wear each tray for 3 weeks and have checkups every 6 weeks. At my first appointment, I only received 1 tray and was told to come back in 4 weeks. I questioned it, but the dental assistant sai...
