White Wire Hawley and Bonded Retainers

I'm due to have my braces off in a few months and my orthodontist has told me that I'll have to wear bonded retainers for life and Hawley retainers for a long time during the day, before being able to wear them at night only. With this in mind, I thought it would be nice if the retainers had white w...

Mascara brush

This might sound a bit odd, but I've found the best thing to clean between my braces is an old mascara brush. It's much better than a proxy / interdental brush and is particularly good for the bottom braces. Does anyone else use a mascara brush or some other alternative?

Twins - Extraction and Nonextraction treatment

In the next couple of months I will post some finish treatment photos of twins with similar amounts of crowding, one treated nonextraction and one treated with 4 premolars and the extraction treatment looks 100% better than the non extraction treatment. A good orthodontist can close space without c...

Congratulations, dudnobass, and thanks for sharing your story and pics. Like Dodger said, I think you'll see big improvements pretty soon, especially when your arch starts to round out. Just wanted to say that I found your ativar pic a bit scary! I wondered if it was a pic of you, and that perhaps y...

Dodger Absolutely amazing! Reading your story make me quite emotional  Your transformation is staggering. You kept us all in the dark for so long on purpose, didn't you? You naughty boy   Well, it worked. Seeing your story all in one go, rather than bit-by-bit, really makes one doub...

Hi Gempop1 Like Dodger I'm also paying £2200 (ceramics top and bottom, retainer, all breakages, etc. Treatment time = approx 2 years). I'm able to pay in instalments too. Basically, the ortho said as long as I'm all paid up by the time the braces come off I can pay as much or as little as I like, w...

Thanks for posting more pics. It's difficult to believe that you still need braces for another year, as your teeth look really good to me. What still needs to be done?

When you go for your next appointment they may or may not do an adjustment, it depends on whether your current wire has done its job. Although, at this stage there is no adjusting to do as such, you just progress onto a heavier wire. Sorry to hear about your white wire  (and I thought you'd fou...

skrduncan What a fantastic idea! I've just ordered myself a box of Mack's Pillow Soft Earplugs. I've been using wax over my front brackets to help stop staining and it can be a pain keep putting it on and taking it off. Now I can do it in one easy application with an ear plug sausage! Marvelous idea...

I ordered it from the internet (I'm in the UK) from:

http://www.orthoshop.co.uk

It was 99p per pack (about $2) and is called Brace-Guard.

Hope this is of help.

Yep. Tried it 2 days ago for the first time. It would not stick to my ceramic brackets, no way, no how. Might be OK with metal ones.

I think it's the mouthwash. I tried a new one out (UK) called Dentyl. There are 2 varieties - pink and green. The pink one gives me pink stuff and the green one gives me green stuff! I think it really must be down to the active ingredients in the mouthwash. I've now gone back to my usual one.
