Re: Anyone have a permanent upper retainer? Opinions?
I have an upper and lower bonded flat metal retainer for two years now for an open bite. It spans from canine to canine on the top and bottom and it took about a month for it to feel normal, but it has keep my bite in place. I have a friend that tried it and it didn't work for them since the bottom ...

Re: ONLY Permanent Retainers?
Do you have something on top? I have an open bite (which is one of the worst to keep closed) and have a permanent retainer on the top and bottom. It is flat and much thicker than a wire. I asked for a clear retainer for the top and bottom for nighttime and they gave me that too. I do not use both at...

I have an open bite and tongue thrust. In the past I would rest my tongue on the front of my teeth and when I swallowed I would push forward, I thought that this was the normal way! I now rest my tongue on the gums right behind the front teeth. When I swallow I keep the front of the tongue stationar...

Amazing! As an open biter I love to see your posts! What kind of elastic configuration did they put you in? Right now I am in Class II during the day and I feel as if it extruded my molars just a little bit. Didn't hurt my bite yet and the bite is now closed, but a bit scared that it will affected i...

Thanks for the information. That is what I was thinking of, an additional retainer for nighttime. I was thinking about a essex (sp?) since maybe (?) it could retain and protect the teeth from grinding. I was thinking that a hawley would do a better job of retaining, but then it wouldn't protect the ...

As soon as they put that reverse curve in it took about 2 mths for the bite to close. Mine wasn't that that bad and of course every mouth is different, but I def. had an open bite. I do have some loose teeth and it drives me nuts, but they tell me that it is normal. Even though my bite is closed som...

The reverse curve is regular archwire, just curved downward. If your front teeth are flared out it brings them inward and downward. You can do the opposite on the bottom too and extrude the bottom teeth a bit so that they can help meet up with the top. I think that all the teeth have to be in alignm...

I don't have TADS, but do have an open bite. As they corrected crowding issues and put all the teeth in line the open bite got worse. As they widen the arch it starts getting better. Reverse curves also help alot because they bring the top teeth down if they are flared out. You can also extrude the ...

If you are sleeping with your mouth open, and/or it is worse in the morning this is probably dehydrated teeth. That is why it forms an arc because it follows the opening of your mouth. Nothing to worry about. If you think that it is something else just ask your ortho or dentist. I get this all the t...

You do have amazingly beautiful big teeth, but if you are not happy I would have a consultation with your ortho or maybe some other orthos as to why you are not happy. I did see another post one time with a person that was not happy and she reopened the gaps and had implants put in. Maybe they could...
