Seeking DC-area ortho -- any recommendations?

I also posted this on the Metal Mouth Forum... I just moved to DC from Indianapolis and am in need of a recommendation of a good ortho. I got my braces off 2 weeks before I moved, so I've got all my retainers, etc -- but I will need to find a new ortho to do my follow-up visits. Anyone have someone ...

Gagging with Essix

Got my braces off this week (woo hoo! woo hoo!) and wound up with an Essix retainer for day, a Hawley for night. I have a really sensitive gag reflex, so I fully expected that the Hawley might not be too pleasant (and it's not, but since I'm mostly wearing it while sleeping, that's not a big deal). ...

Thanks Rory! That's very reassuring. Whew! (sigh of relief)

It didn't even occur to me to ask my ortho about this while I was in the chair today -- it was only this evening that I had the realization that exposing the margin was a possibility.

Here's a larger version of the picture, if that's helpful at all:

Will moving a crown affect its margin? (pic)

Dr. J: I would be grateful for any help you can provide with this question! My two front teeth are crowned. Today, my ortho took x-rays to see where my roots are and said that the root of one of those teeth (the one on the right in the picture below) needs shifting, and that making that change will ...

What does a "perfect" bite look like?

Can anyone point me to a picture of an "ideal" bite? I looked through archwired.com and didn't spot one... I'm trying to get a sense of how much (or little) progress I have made with opening my bite (which was the main reason I got braces in the first place). Thanks for any help you can pr...

I believe the mustard-staining comes mostly from the turmeric, which is a yellow spice that appears frequently in mustard. Before I got wire ties I too was CRAVING mustard. I found a Grey Poupon squeeze bottle with some kind of horseradish mustard that did not contain turmeric--I actually brought th...

Have fun with the new word, wingnut! :) It *is* descriptive, isn't it. According to the original plan, I have about 16 months left of a 20-month treatment. Patience has never been my strong suit... Thanks for the commiseration, everyone. I just go through phases where I hate these braces with a fier...

It took me the better part of three weeks before my molars had shifted enough so that I could squeeze floss in there between the bands. And I am religious about flossing, so that was really annoying for me. It was SO satisfying the first time I succeeded (though a tad painful after all that time!). ...
