Re: How are people coping with permanent retainers?
My ortho wont let me get anything but a bonded retainer on the bottom but I know that he offers the flossable kind. Ask if yours does and you can always get yours changed over. I don't need anything else that prevents me from flossing properly. Here is a picture that I found on the internet of what ...

Re: Bonding a Gap?
I am lucky because my dentist is my ortho. He doesn't specialize in orthodontics but has been doing it for over 20 years and he is fantastic. So I get to have my wires taken off and have my cleaning and have them put back on. When I have my braces of on May 9 I will be treated to a cleaning before I...

I have a debanding date of May 9th - YEAH!!! I will have the back braces taken off two weeks before keeping on the social 6, top & bottom and then they will make impressions. On the day of debanding I will have a cleaning and then have my retainer fitted!
I am sooooo excited.

Re: Bonding a Gap?
I have had my lateral incisors bonded while the braces were on to close gaps that were there. My teeth were too small in porportion to my other teeth so it looks natural.

Re: Wheellug's journey at 40 in Damon metal braces - w/ pics
I was at the office for 2 hours because I also had a very small filling. I have a bottom molar that is slightly rotated so some of the side is exposed and there was a black spot that wasn't soft like a cavity but because it is going to be between 2 teeth soon after it aligns it was suggested that I ...

Re: Wheellug's journey at 40 in Damon metal braces - w/ pics
So after sitting in the chair for over 2 hours my lateral incisors are finished. I think that I will ask him to add to one of them a little tiny bit so square it out more but I am not sure (it is the one that had a chip in the tooth to begin with). So the gaps are almost closed and now all he has to...

Re: Wheellug's journey at 40 in Damon metal braces - w/ pics
So tomorrow my ortho who also does restorative work is going to make my lateral incisors a little bigger with bonding. We have been trying to get the gaps closed right beside them for a while and he suggested that we do some bonding because they are small compared to my central incisors. It would be...

Re: Nurse J's Bracetastic Adventure
I am sure that there has been subtle changes. The first wire on the upper arch is to widen the arch and make room to have the lower ones put on. I had my upper ones on for 2 months before the lower ones and I didn't see to much change in the appearance of the top teeth. My 2 front teeth didn't strai...

Re: Wheellug's journey at 40 in Damon metal braces - w/ pics
I cannot believe that it is 2 years tomorrow that I had my top braces on. I am not sure how much longer because the lovely gaps that I have are not closing very quickly even with weekly powerchain changes plus elastics. Has anyone had gaps closing very slowly? What did your ortho do to have them clo...

Re: Wheellug's journey at 40 in Damon metal braces - w/ pics
So I went for my weekly adjustments, powerchain change and he did and "IPR" on my lower teeth so it doesn't flare out as much. Unfortunately I have a cavity in between two of my teeth. I noticed it because of the gap that has formed. He says it is very small and won't take much to fix! I g...

Re: HeyBuckey!'s Story
I brush, floss etc. first and then I use the MI Paste. According to the box it is kind of activated by saliva so the longer you swish it around in your mouth and keep on the teeth the better. I just use the toothbrush to get around the braces. When I have them removed I will just use my finger to ap...

Re: HeyBuckey!'s Story
I follow the directions on the box. I brush with it because it is hard to get around the molars and then I leave it in my mouth for 2-3 minutes, spit is out and then I don't eat or drink for 1/2 hour afterward or you can do it in the evening before bed.

Re: HeyBuckey!'s Story
My decalcification is on my back molars so I really have trouble seeing it with all the metal covering it. Next time I have a cleaning (hopefully by then I am brace free) I will ask her again and see how it has worked. I am just trying to keep my teeth strong and healthy. I don't like to brush with ...

Yes I did mean MI Paste. Let me know what your dentist says. It is always good to get a second opinion.

Re: HeyBuckey!'s Story
I have been reading your story and just wanted to comment about the white spots or decalcification. My hygenist recommended this product called IM Paste that is only sold through dentists. I googled it and it is recommended for people with braces as well to help recalcify teeth. I have been using it...
