Has anyone tried to chew gum with braces? When I first had my braces put on the ortho mentioned that he might even get me to chew some sugarless gum. I guess it helps to loosen the teeth so that they can move. I have not ventured to try this yet. Would the gum get stuck in some of the brackets?

Two of mine fell off in the first week of being on. They were on my molars. They glued them back on and I haven't had an others come off since - knock on wood.

Is it just like a little dot on the actual bracket? My brackets had those little colored dots at first but they come off after a few times brushing your teeth. I have had my braces on for 4 weeks today and my first adjustment is after 10 weeks. I asked the ortho assistant why so long and she said that was the normal amount of time for adjustments. Is that a normal amount of time for anyone else? I have metal top and bottom - Damons I think.
