Elastics make me self conscious!

So I've been in braces (ceramic) since late Sept and have been wearing triangular elastics. I only where them when I'm not in class. So I wear them for about 16 hours a day, and depending on the day maybe only 10 hrs. I told my ortho. He doesn't seem to realize how repulsive they look when I talk --...

Ceramics --> iBraces transition ("stabilizing"

So i'm in week 1 of ceramic braces. I already have vertical elastics to close my open bite. My OD says if this doesn't work, he's going to try TADs. I had SARPE in June, and the expander removed last week as well. I'm getting iBraces -- it's what I signed up for, but my ortho insists on starting out...

enamel demineralization? losing the "glisten"? Hel

so i just got braces today. i'm really excited. i noticed that my OD put an acid on my enamel -- he says this demineralizes it so the brackets can stick. he says most of the glisten returns, but not all of it and that this was a small price to pay for straight teeth. i'm really concerned about getti...

expander being removed!

hey guys just to follow up on my case, i talked to my ortho about the apparent swelling, and he's convinced that its the bulky appliance in my mouth. he is removing it in 2 weeks (thank god), exactly 16 weeks post-SARPE. i think my jaw overexpanded, so there is enough room for slight relapse. what w...

please please please help!!

I really want your advice on this -- I had my SARPE on June 16th, 14 weeks ago, and I still look CONSIDERABLY swollen. I talked to my OS about this last week, and he said that it could be the RPE appliance making my face appear swollen (I have a bulky plastic RPE appliance in my mouth now) and that ...
