Hi Darrell, You say you've just had it in, but how long is that? I've had mine in for two and half weeks now, and am starting to find it not so bad. Food get stuck up there, and it's a pain having to use proxy brushes to clean it, but I seem to be getting used to it. In fact, I'm starting to think i...

31, and desperate to get my teeth sorted out as I'm getting married this time next year. The ortho reckons he can tidy up my teeth with braces and a quad helix expander in 12 months. I hope I'm not going to end up a metal mouth bride!

Funny you say that - I've noticed exactly the same thing! I don't think I've ever done any clenching or grinding at night, but yes, since wearing braces, I wake up with with my jaw clenched and the area around my back teeth is sore. I thought it might be because my braced teeth are tender, so even t...

I hope so!

I'm 31 and have had braces for 2 weeks, and although my teeth don't look great yet, at least they have moved a tiny bit.

I wish I'd got it sorted earlier, but it's never to late. There are lots of people on the forum from all ages.

Hi Julie, Sorry you're having a hard time with your braces. I had a few problems with brackets coming off when I first had my braces installed. I went back twice and now they're all on. I don't think this is too abnormal (although the ortho was suprised). My guy is a well respected London orthodonti...

A couple of other things.... If you have a tooth out you won't have what my ortho called 'coincident centrelines'. ie, the line between your two middle front teeth won't vertically stack up with the line between your two middle lower front teeth. Unless you plan to be a tooth model, it won't matter,...

Hi soccerchick. I had a quad helix put in 2 weeks ago, so I can understand a bit about what you've been suffering. The first time I tried to eat anything was disastrous, it felt like food kept getting stuck in it and it make eating impossible. I was very upset and afraid that I wouldn't be able to e...

Hi there, I had my lower left central incisor taken out 3 weeks ago. 1) The good news is that it wasn't painful, although I did feel fairly psychologically traumatised by the experience. I had it done with local anesthetic at the dentists, and although I was nervous at the time, I didn't feel a thin...
