Getting wisdom teeth ground down
I have my braces off, with a temporary retainer on top and a permanent one on the bottom. This week I'm supposed to go get my wisdom teeth ground down (they're turning sideways and keeping my bite from closing, which doesn't bother me but irks the good orthodontist no end). I forget what he called t...

Look, Ma, no metal!
Well, a bit of metal, a wire behind the bottom teeth, and then there's the plastic retainer at night on top. Honestly, the worst part was the first day or two (THE PAIN, THE PAIN) and then the scraping (two different occasions as uppers were removed earlier than bottoms) to get the brackets off. The...

I don't think you're supposed to eat with your retainers in...You usually are meant to take them out to eat and brush your teeth. Pain is normal with rets and will go away in a couple days. A word of caution: if you skip a day or two, they will feel tight and make your teeth sore again when you put...

Re: Did you have cavities as a result of the braces?
Hello, I just got braced yesterday, and I can't help worrying about finding a lot of cavities when my braces are off. I feel very insecure about the molar bands. How in the world can you be sure no food gets stuck between the molars and molar bands? :Questions: I hate fillings because they make me ...

Re: Sonicare or Sonic Complete
I have an older Sonicare. I stopped using it for about a month in favour of a regular brush, and it took the hygienist twice as long to clean my teeth. (I also hadn't been flossing -- mea culpa.) She and the dentist seem to feel the Sonicare gets out stuff that a regular brush can't. For when you ne...
