Invisalign to correct minor crowding + spaces
I had traditional metal braces for ~3.5 years and got a Hawley retainer on the top and a permanent retainer on the bottom as directed by my ortho. A year or so later, the ortho took off the permanent retainer and said I didn't have to wear the Hawley any more. Over time, I developed minor spaces + t...

Retainer options
I had a Hawley (removable) retainer on top and a (permanent) bonded retainer wire on the bottom. Unlike the Hawley retainer, which took about a week to get used to, the permanent retainer was just a wire bonded to my bottom 6 front teeth. I had no trouble with speech or food getting caught between m...

Teeth movement
Humm.. Don't know for sure.
Some people's teeth settle after 3-6 months and others have trouble with movement over time.
For now, I would suggest that you continue to wear your retainer and have your ortho check to make sure it's still fitting propertly.
Good luck.

Permanent retainer
Hi, I had a permanent bottom retainer for a couple of years after braces. It was simply a piece of wire that bent across 6 bottom teeth and bonded at each end. As retainers go, it was easy to get used to, low profile and invisible to others. You are welcome to explore other options with your ortho, ...

Teeth bonding - stains and chipping
No problem with staining at all. Minor chipping at the bottom of one tooth, where the bonding material was pretty thin. I had my dentist smooth out bonding and match the contour of the adjacent teeth and have not seen any problems since then. It's been over 10 years since the original bonding was do...

Tooth bonding + repair
Bonding is a process to repair minor cosmetic defects in teeth. The bonding material can be contoured/shaped by a dentist and is cured or hardened with ultra-violet light. Then, final shaping and polishing can be done by your dentist. It's also worthwhile to mention that bonding material can be matc...

Teeth shifting opinion
I agree with browneyedgrl. Your teeth look great. If you are not happy with the feedback from your current orthodontist, seek a second opinion.

Retainers after braces
It took me about week to get used to my retainer. After that, my speech improved to "normal" levels. Hang in there.

Life after braces and retainer
Thank you. Appreciate the fast response. My ortho did not give me a removable bottom retainer, in addition to the permanent one. When I had the permanent (bottom) retainer removed, my ortho said it was no longer necessary to wear the top Hawley. I guess I should be thankful that my upper teeth have ...

Life after braces and retainers
Hi, I had braces for ~4 years from 6th grace thru middle school. Just prior to the end of treatment, I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled and had the top/bottom braces removed shortly there after. I got a Hawley retainer for the top and a permanent retainer that was attached to my front bottom teeth. After ~...
