I was told not to drink with a straw post-op, and even when I tried I found it difficult with my mouth banded shut. But my mouth was opened up, using a straw is considerably easier, so I'd say I waited about 2.5 weeks to start using a straw.

Hey, from your sig it sounds like we had the same procedure, mine on 6/8. Because of pretty bad congestion (there was a good amount of blood in my nasopharynx because of the LeForte), my surgeon recommended that I sleep sitting up until the congestion cleared. Hey guys, thanks so much for that info. Every now and then a little of the fluid I'm drinking goes down the wrong way, but its not really significant. On the hole swallowing has been just fine.
