Only a professional can tell you what would be required for your situation. Usually the first consultation, (where an ortho looks at your teeth and gives you a rough idea of what kind of work it would take, and how much it would cost), is relatively inexpensive. Some places free, mine was $20. That ...

When I had the xrays done I actually requested they send a copy to my dentist and they said that it's pretty common to do that. Also I'm not sure if this is like your situation at all, but I'll be changing orthodontists in the middle of my treatment because I'll be moving and they pretty much said t...

I was actually kind of sad when my ortho told me I was getting self litigating brackets. It's nice because they're smaller and are moving my teeth more quickly, but I was thinking as long as I had to get the metal, it would be fun to get some color to go with it. I believe one of my next appointment...

In the week I had 4 teeth pulled I lost 10 lbs because I couldn't eat anything substantial, the next week I got the braces and lost another 10 because my mouth hurt so much. After that though I tend to fluctuate loosing about 5 lbs after a tightening and gaining it back when my teeth get stronger I ...

Well I'm not sure about your particular situation, but in my case, I have an overjet that is partially caused by my teeth angling out, so it's not just my jaw position. With my 4 bicuspids pulled, the teeth uncrowded, but there's still space, and my ortho says they'll use a power chain to help pull ...

I can't believe that there's any way that baking soda would whiten my teeth SO much around my brackets that they'd have noticebly darker spots where the brackets were. Thats actually why I'm only using baking soda. The abrasive they used to "rough up" my teeth when they put the brackets on...

I'm not a professional in teeth but with my 4 extractions (bicuspids) which came out all at once, and a few years ago with 4 wisedom teeth removed at once, my experience says you can chew on whatever doesn't hurt. As your gums heal they can handle more pressure without pain. If it hurts it's probabl...

Alright, that's what I suspected but I figured I'd best double check since my ortho is 2 hours drive and a day off of work away :) Thanks!!

I know!! It's crazy how fast teeth can move. I've had my brackets for almost 3 months and my jutting out canines have been pulled back and the holes from where my pulled first molars were are now about or less then half the size! It seams like every time I floss I find a new gap or shift. I'm always...

would you be able to post the link for what you have found about the baking soda and the glue?
Here's the site, and it's under the "take caution" header.

Well I don't know about bite wafers, but I'm new enough in braces to remember the first 3 days are the WORST. Use wax and lots of it, where your mouth is the most raw, IBProfin is a friend, and so is peroxyl mouth rinse or even just a warm salt water solution, and I also found some releaf from a can...

3 months in and still psyched

I got my braces on April 1st this year, so it's been almost 3 months and I can't believe how much my teeth have moved!!! They went from uber crowded 4 bicuspids removed and out front vampire fangs to almost being straight! I'm 22 and decided to get braces this year because I got an internship this s...

Baking soda and Brackets

My braces are still fairly new (almost 3 months in) and at my new job I find I'm drinking coffee all the time. Originally I wanted to avoid it because I didn't want to stain my teeth around the brackets, but I find myself giving in and thinking of all the ways of whitening when the metal is out. Unt...
