This happened to me as well. It took two assistants to try to get tire wires around two of my teeth, but they just wouldn’t go on. My ortho said that it's fine for now and he will likely remove the brackets and reposition them after my teeth start to move.

Hi Khrystal, I paid my ortho in full and my contract/receipt shows a breakdown of the treatment I paid for: records, building the braces & monthly ortho visits. If I left the practice after 9 nine months, I'd get back $1,400. Check the contract they had you sign and it should say something about...

Lori, you could try using some proxy brushes, they're more discreet and can at least get rid of the food that might be more noticeable
Great idea, Zeira! I'm going back to work for the first time with braces tomorrow and I will give this a try. Thanks!

Hi Kyra, Welcome to the boards! I enjoyed reading your story. I am getting my braces on Aug 13 so I am not that far ahead of you. I will have them for about 2 years. How long will you have yours? I know what you mean about the teeth pictures. I never realized how truly awful mine were until I saw th...

Katie57 - I would not recommend one for work unless you have access to a private bathroom. It can get messy at times even after you've mastered it. I'm still trying to figure out how to clean my teeth at work. I've been brushing, flossing and using mouthwash after every meal, but I doubt that will l...

Well… I did it! All four teeth are gone and I’m still alive. LOL. Thank you to everyone for your advice and support! :D :D :D I studied the before pics of my teeth intensely and asked myself can I live with these teeth for the rest of my life or braces for 2 years? Vanity won… The extra...

Lori, you have to talk with your sister seriously! People, who have natural perfect smile, they cant understand why we are doing that. Specialy for adults in braces, because people think in a way: you had messed up teeth for 40 years, why are you spending money now for that ridicous think on your t...

I'm thinking of backing out...

Hi everybody, I am exactly 36 hours away from getting 4 teeth extracted. Exactly one week after that my braces are scheduled to go on... for 2 years. I feel like the most prepared person in the world for this. I have researched braces and extractions thoroughly and read through countless posts on th...

A waterpik is a device that shoots water in between your teeth to dislodge food and bacteria. I recently got the Waterpik Ultra (same as chonie) and agree it is amazing.

Thomas, I'm a claims adjuster. The claims I handle are different from health insurance claims, but here are a few suggestions: Generally, if a procedure is specifically excluded under a policy the company has no obligation to pay for it regardless of whether you petition. Your best bet is to find lo...

It’s been great seeing everyone’s pics and reading through the blogs. I hope to make a decision by the end of the week.

gregpeckfan: WOW! Your extraction gaps are closing so quickly. You must be excited to see such great progress early on. How did you get the date to show up on your pics?

Hi Kallisandra!

Well, I found out that getting my bicuspids out would be the fastest and most effective way to correct my problematic teeth. I'm scheduled to be braced on Aug 13. Maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both have them off before we turn 30!

Amandajane - I've encountered a few people like that, too. My sister actually said to me "Why are you doing that? I would cry everyday if I had to look like that for 2 years". I also had a dental assistant tell me to push for Invisalign (even though I'm not a good candidate) because the cl...

Waterpik Ultra Dental Water Jet

I just bought this yesterday and I absolutely love it! After reading the threads regarding this product, I knew exactly how to use it and it works great. I have very little counter space in my bathroom so I set up a table of equal height next to the counter and the water jet sits right on that along...

Mist - I'm curious as to what molar bands are, too. Bluegirl - You really lucked out with the wisdom teeth. Mine were impacted and laying sideways. The extractions did not go well at all. I was significantly bruised and swollen for 2 weeks. :x I'm hoping my bicuspids won't be as problematic. I will ...
