i get my braces off in 45 minutes. 4 years and a BSSO later I will actually miss them. I do look forward to being able to floss easier and not have to use the little brush to clean in between the braces. I get a retainer next week that I wear fulltime for 3 months. After 3 months I wear it at nights...

I had a similar problem, my jaw would randomly jerk forward causing the lower front teeth to hit the back of my upper front teeth. It felt like I was going to break my front teeth out. At one point I thought maybe the surgeon brought my jaw forward too much because my lower jaw just wouldnt stay bac...

After 6 weeks your bone is technically as strong as it is going to get but it takes 1 year for the bones to fully regenerate and heal under the microscope. I asked my suregen specifically about being punched in the face( Im a 20 something guy things happen lol) and he said not to take any punches in...

I lost 12 lbs in the first 7 days. I was told I may wake up with a tube in my nose and if I dont I may feel...

congratulations......I hope everything is good so they put the bands back on. You must feel so happy. I had pretty tight elastics (could open my mouth enough to put in a straw at least) for only 13 days and I was soooo incredibly happy to get them off. 6 weeks is tough....congrats again.

I dont have any scientific or medical knowledge but I think if you did a stress test like you describe the new bones would be slightly weaker ( although functionally unoticable to you) or the exact same. I do not think the bones would heal stronger then the original.

half my lower lip and chin is numb. It tingles when I touch it. My lip feels like it is always cold too. I am 6 days post op and not sure how long the feeling will last. fortunately, it doesnt bother me much. It does not make me drool which is nice. I find myself constantly touching it though.

Yes, the jaw heals "for the most part" in 6 weeks. However, as you've been told it can take upwards of a year for total healing. If you would like me to be blunt...I think you'd be CRAZY to play hockey anything within 3 months of surgery. However, I admit I am ultra conservative with some...
