How to clear throat of mucus?

I just had jaw surgery on Friday and I've been coughing it up and sucking it out with an aspirator from my mouth. It's been painful. Any tips so I don't have to deal with this?

Thanks.

I had kaiser after I had my braces. I switched from PPO to Kaiser. Surgery in 2 weeks. Total cost = 20 bucks :)
No waiting period. Spoke to the surgeon, he said I needed it and here I am now

With the health care reform, you should be able to stay on your parent's plan till 26 I believe.

McMichaels, I'm in the same situation. My surgeon told me the upper was optional but recommended it.

I'm getting both, if you're going to do it. Get it done right the first time.

I have Kaiser insurance (HMO-D), and am unsure how much they will pay for my surgery. The Kaiser rep was pretty unhelpful. He said for "TMJ" surgery they cover up to $1000. I will be needing wedges of bone removed from my upper jaw to correct jaw problems, so it's not aesthetic, and it's ...

Charlsie142, you're oral surgeon is trying to nickel and dime you. I suggest you go find another surgeon . I had a surgeon that wanted his own records and x-rays all the time. Every time I bought in my ortho's x-rays or impressions he complained they weren't of quality. I got sick of paying for his ...

Hi charlsie142,

don't let your ortho and surgeon nickel and dime you. Tell them you want a copy of the X-Rays to present to the surgeon, it is a copy that you paid for!

Hi dvdrdiscs, From what I've heard the course is just an informational session regarding the surgery and safe practices before and after the surgery. The surgeon stated that in order to schedule the surgery, you need to be almost ready. Therefore I cannot schedule the surgery until 2-3 months before...

Hi dvdrdiscs, I'm not exactly sure since I am not at that phase yet. The initial meeting was pretty much the same as LAJaw's. I just know the next meeting is when we set a date and then I need to attend the course regarding the surgery. If the surgeon says you need it then you're getting it! I'll le...

Hi Boatsink, Since I haven't "officially" booked a date - I am not sure of the details yet. They won't let me schedule for another 3 months (near ready). I'm hoping to have this surgery in early Aug - the break between summer school and fall quarter. Dr. Bui is very nice and seems excited ...

Note: I'm updating for future reference in case anyone else has this question later on.

Kaiser surgeon agreed that I needed surgery and I will have my surgery done this summer - both jaws. I spoke with Dr. Bui in Santa Clara.

Good-luck boatsink!

Re: LA Kaiser

I posted earler about Kaiser's rejecting surgery for my severe overbite, tmd problem etc. because doctor said surgery is only done these days for people who can barely open their mouths. So is his contention Kaiser's? Should I see another Kaiser Maxilofacial guy? I believe he's the only one in the ...

Hi Boatsink,

I actually live in San Jose! Thanks for the info regarding the Santa Clara opening a new department. My cousin is actually a nurse there. I'll definitely contact them also.

Jan 1st can't come soon enough!. I am going to contact both hospitals.

I'll keep you guys updated.
