Glad you got accepted and can start your treatment soon (ish) :lol: As for a timeline for your operation, it really depends on how much your teeth need to move. And this is a matter of nature, rather than NHs waiting times! :lol: It is typically a year, sometimes a bit longer, sometimes a bit soone...

accepted for treatment

hello everyone.. been awhile.. but wanted to make an up date.. the NHS hospital in bournemouth,uk have been fantastic.. had my 5th appointment after meeting my ortho and surgon and having pics taken ..ect..ect.. and so i got accepted :) so first stage is the prep.. get the brace on the 3rd of march....

i didnt think you would have to pay for it...
here in uk you dont if they think your a good case for the NHS (national health service) just a longer process

You need braces before surgery because the oral surgeon needs your teeth to be in place before doing the surgery. If they would not straighten and rotate your teeth prior then when they do the surgery your teeth will not meet the way its suppose to. So you get braces on first to prep the teeth and ...

Hi there, I haven't been on this board for ages now as I had my op in July 2008 to correct an underbite - but I still drop by from time to time. My surgery and treatment was all done in London on the NHS - I did pay for the supply of white brackets (about £270) but I don't think all orthodontists ...

Hi, I had my appointment yesterday with the consultant orthodontist, (I'm at Barnsley too!) she basically just took moulds and photos and then booked me back in to the joint clinic with the surgeon. They only do these once a month so i'v got to wait til January for that!! She said that i'll get bra...

hi sarah, i'm at nearly the same stage as you, in yorkshire. i had my first appointment at the hospital in july, they just looked at my teeth and took some measurements, then made me another appointment which is on 24th sept. i think they'll do moulds and xrays then. Be prepared for lots of waiting...
