my ortho did the same thing. From all the reading i've done, its to help retract the front teeth to correct your bite. I'm guessing you also have an overbite? I think the term for it is class II elastics. I didn't have time to really ask questions at my last appt (last wed, 1/27).. but I'm not sure ...

This is true. The instructions don't recommend using mouthwash all the time since it can clog other areas and always rinse w/ water, as previously mentioned.

i agree with everyone else. it helped me to stick to liquid foods.. so it was a nice treat to have smoothies for lunch every day and have soup to myself at home.
