Expander not working...

Ok I need to rant. My whole situation is frustrating. I am 25 years old. I've been wearing braces and an expander for 5 months 3 weeks and 4 days. I understand that most adults who were told to wear an expander as an option to fix their crossbite, there would probably only be a 50/50 chance it will ...

1. Dallas, Fort Worth, TX
2. $4700 (would've been $3900 if I didn't get the palatal expander)
3. All Metal
4. 24 months

what sucks is they said my expander is not working :(

Update: Its been close to 6 months for me in the the Spring Palatal Expander. (picture in previous post) I went in to see the ortho today, and she said the Expander was NOT working :( I knew I would be scared of those words; its been torture for almost 6 months and I got nothing out of it. Anyway, t...

I just got mine on yesterday after I went in for adjustment; it was a total surprise I wasn't expecting anything new in my mouth other than usual ligatures or arc wires, then they put in "turbos" on the back of my two front teeth. I can't bite down completely either which makes chewing a n...

I'm not getting any younger and want to have a better smile! It's only temporary (2 yrs average), and in the long run, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I've had mine on for almost 4 months now. The day I get them off is getting closer! Just another 20 months! Better than 24 months! haha :D

@Canberra Congrats on getting the expander in :D If everything goes correctly, just think you'll be getting them out in 6-7 months! Especially since you have the screw type expander which gives definite results. @ dawnmarie did you have the same type of spring expander that looks like mine? (picture...

Hi Canberra! My ortho said the same thing about my expander and how it may not work and I "might" need surgery, and I'm 25! My crossbite isn't that bad the ortho said. I've had the expander on for 3 months now. The only thing I notice is that my cheekbones have a dull ache. Also, I don't s...

What type of expander do I have? (picture)

So I got my expander and top braces in about a week ago. Bottom braces will go on in the next visit. I've searched around the internet to see what kind of expander I have, and it's kind of wierd I can't find it. When the ortho put on me, he said it is a spring expander that constantly puts pressure ...

Hey man I'm a 25 year old MALE as well and JUST got them 1 week ago on 10/1/2009. I'm very active in keeping a healthy lifestyle. I love martial arts, and everyone knows martials arts and braces don't mix. I'll just have to wear full head gear if sparring and a mouth guard made for braces. As for wo...
