How are people coping with permanent retainers?

I had my braces off 2 days ago (woohoo!) but then I got permanent retainers on both top and bottom and to be frank... I'm a little disappointed. I thought when my braces were off I would be totally free, back to normal but with straight teeth... well I have straight teeth now but instead of having a...

Thanks for the reply's guys, please excuse my ignorance, it is indeed 2nd molars that I am describing (I didn't know what they were called!)

Mine are at a sort of angle and not pointing straight down like the others (is this crossbite?) I assume that is what my ortho is trying to fix.

Anyone else had brackets put on thier very back teeth?

As far as I am aware, the norm with braces is to have them on all the teeth barring the very back ones.

Well last time I was at the ortho he said next time we will look at putting brackets on the back teeth also.

How common is this and what would be the reason for it?

Thanks guys!

Had powerchain a week ago and still no change - normal?

It was suppose to help close my gaps but has not done so as yet. Should I be concerned or just wait a litt...

Anyone Else Start To Become A Little Lax With Thier Routine?

When I first got braces, I brushed morning, mouthwashed and used the mini brush between my braces and brushed before bed. I still brush morning and evening now but the inbetween bit is losing steam :? I work outdoors and have started just rinsing my mouth with water after eating and brushing when I ...

Nah, the feelings more of an uncomfortable one than pain. It just feels strange but then you get used to it within an hour or so and after a week you forget they're on!

I think were all in agreement that a year or two of pain and self consciousness is well worth it for a lifetime of good looks and confidence! :D
