One month in! I really don't see a lot of movement personally. My teeth are fully closed in the last pic. They had to build up some molar pads for me because my top teeth were crashing into my bottom brackets and two brackets broke off because of it. They actually had to build them up twice because ...

I've had to get mine snipped twice already. I strongly encourage you to make sure that if you have one pooking out that you don't slide your finger back there. I forgot it was poking out back there and seriously sliced into my finger on Tuesday.

Oh! Also, while it will be in there for a different reason, the appliance will probably take care of the thumb sucking. It should prevent her from being able to create suction between her thumb and the roof of her mouth.

From what I have read expanders are quite often used for this type of early treatment in children. I took my son, who just turned 7, in to see my Orthodontist. He is also a compulsive thumb sucker (has since he was born). He currently has a crib appliance that his dentist put in but it isn't working...

http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/uu107/LaLaLaOrthodontics/TopWires03022010.jpg I got my top wires on this morning. They didn't have enough burn-your-retinas pink so I went with regular. I hope it doesn't take too long to get the red dots off. They've gotten a little sore over the course of the da...

Expander buddy! Wow that's a lot at once though. Your speech WILL get better I promise!! You'll have some speech problems but most will go away as they move. Try and avoid stringy food in public because it isn't worth the effort (shrimp, strawberries) and getting a pick or something to carry with yo...

Getting Braced Tomorrow

Whoo Hoo!! My top wire goes on tomorrow morning and I am SO excited! I can finally get these manky teeth on their way to being nice and straight. I've had this stupid Nitanium Expander in since October so technically I've been on my way but it doesn't feel like it. Well feel mentally. I can feel my ...

Hi Mara! I actually work at a university. I go in tomorrow to get my top wires but I had spacers put in to get my expander in. I've seen a lot of people say that spacers hurt. Honestly mine didn't hurt too much and they had to do some major work to get two of them in. It really just feels tight and ...

Do you have to be awake or can you get twilight sleep? Do they say that they are all going to come out easily? I could only be numbed because that was all my insurance would cover. It was pretty rough and not at all like when I've had to get my teeth worked on. It's a Loooooot of shots in a short pe...

Well after years of crooked teeth, migraines and severe jaw pain I finally went in for a consultation with an Orthodontist in September 2009. I have arthritis in my right joint due to how my teeth came in and how my jaw has had to sit because of it. Here's what I started with: http://i638.photobucke...

I'm 27 (28 in April) I've had a Nitanium expander in since October 14th. I go in next Tuesday the 2nd to get my upper wires and then on the 9th for my lowers. I've needed them since I was little but we couldn't afford them. I have arthritis in the right side of my jaw where the joint didn't form cor...

This is a neat thread. I was just laughing about what they told, and showed me, that I would be getting when they put my braces on. It's some crazy expensive electric toothbrush. I think it's an OralB professional. It was just so funny because they act like it's some prize to earn and be excited abo...
