I have my braces off! I am also cleared to eat anything I want... unless it hurts :-) I want to thank everyone for their support during this adventure. I don't think I would have come out of this as well if it wasn't for all the encouraging words and information I got from all of you! Good luck to a...

Hi all, My ears are still "muted" for lack of a better word. Every now and then they pop and I can hear again but for the most part, my hearing is clogged. Anyone else have that experience? I still get the earache in the left ear every now and then but the frequency has gone down for that....

I had upper and lower jaw surgery to fix a 100% overbite. After surgery, my bite was initially pretty messed up. All of a sudden I had an overjet, crooked midline on the bottom jaw, and none of my back teeth met up. Within a week of getting elastics, my back teeth met up. Now I have a new configurat...

Mulligan - no need to worry about healing too quickly. I thought the same thing and I'm okay! I did find my bite was more "messed up" after surgery than I thought it would be but that had more to do with the way my mouth was swelling than the actual surgery. Aviv16 - you do such a great jo...

How long until stitches dissolve?

Hi all,

I've had my surgery 3 weeks ago and I'm just wondering, how long until the stitches dissolve/fall out? How long did it take after your surgery before your stitches were gone?

Thanks,
J

Hi, I had a master's student defend his thesis 6 days after surgery. I told my surgeon and he gave me an additional medication to help with the swelling (maybe a steroid?). I went and, because it was only 2 hours and I didn't have to do much of the talking, it went absolutely fine. I wasn't so puffy...

Hi all, My second post-op appts went well. Both surgeon and ortho are very pleased. I still have numbness but the new tingles appear everyday so I'm not worried at all. I've also completed my 13 hour drive to my new home so all my major stressors are now over :D My tongue is still a little brown but...

Congratulations to all of you on the other side! I'm glad to hear you are all doing well.

I'm going to my second post-op appointment with my surgeon tomorrow as well as my first ortho appointment. I hope they can do something about this rash... it's everywhere! Including my face :(

I was doing so well... until I woke up this morning with an itchy rash all over my body. It seems I'm allergic to something and I have a call in to the surgeon's office to find out what to do next... I'll keep you posted!

Aviv16 - your description of numbing is exactly how I'm feeling, tingling and partially numb in patches. I'm on to soft foods now which is good. I'm dealing with two annoying issues, earaches off and on and my tongue has turned brown from the chlorohixidine oral rinse. I'm going to call the surgeons...
