Thanks for your reply drrick, Wow, now that you say that, it does make sense- one of my other issues has been TMJ disorder.... I think maybe I'm noticing the grind more because my teeth weren't actually hitting each other before, but now that they're grinding against my lingual brackets, I can actua...

I've started grinding teeth in my sleep since getting braces

Hi everyone, Well, I'm about 3 weeks into having upper and lower linguals. Things mostly going well, but I'm finding as soon as I go to bed, I start clenching and grinding my teeth against the braces.... I thought initially it might stop after a few days, but it hasn't yet. Is this common? Would I b...

Hi Lisa, Good on you for taking the step on linguals! I'm new to them as well, had upper and lowers done 8 days ago. I found that the lisp was very bad for me initially too, especially at work. It seems to have really settled over the last 3 days though, luckily! It feels pretty bad at first, but tr...

Hi Moh, the lower teeth do hit the upper brackets, I've only just started to try chewing food today, so it's a bit awkward but feels like it will get better soon... When the teeth are sensitive the first couple of days after having braces put on, it was pretty uncomfortable if I knocked the lower te...

Hi Lynne, Hehe :) So you were able to eat fairly well from soon after being braced? Had a read through your story, good on you for taking the leap and getting braced! It is very different for kids with braces now isn't it, with coloured bands and all... I hope you are feeling better than you did on ...

Hi Lynne, Thanks for your reply. Oh, I'm glad that the lisp settled down for you, it gets you down a bit, wondering if you'll be talking with the lisp all the time now, hey. How about eating? Do you find that you can chew things like chicken etc now? I don't have any high hopes for eating steak in t...

Hi teach, well, I'm only in early days, so do have a bit of a lisp still unfortunately... Was pretty embarrassing at work, working in the emergency department I have to talk to a LOT of people, so my mouth was not only getting quite tired and sore, but the longer I was there yesterday, the more pron...

Thanks for your replies Allycat and Jo3121 :) I think I'll just try waxing only the areas at the back of my teeth today, sounds a lot easier :) Although my tongue is doing really well with wasx along the entire brace, don't have any ulcers yet.... Hmmm, talking and eating..... I've got a slight lisp...

About wax- new to braces

Hi all! I've just gotten upper and lower linguals yesterday, my orthodonstist has recommended keeping them packed with wax along entire length of them for first 5 days. While this is all good, it takes SO long to get the wax off! I've just used a dental pick and it's taken almost an hour to get it o...
