Jaw expansion vs Filing teeth at on edges

Hello All, My cousin wants to go for orthodontic treatment. However the Orthodontist suggested extraction of teeth to create space. We don't want any invasive procedure and therefore I thought of Jaw expansion. But my cousin is already 21 years old and most likely the upper jaw bone must have become...

Re: Bone loss

Hello Realisingsdream, Many Thanks for your reply and it was a bit disappointing to hear that you put in five years of patience. We can only try things dentists tell. Isn't it? I am 35 and the dentist told that I have lost a lot of bone from my teeth. My teeth are strong. I am able to crack hardest ...

Bone loss

Hello Friends,

I just had x-rays of my teeth taken last week. The dentist said that the bone loss in my teeth was too much to allow for braces. Can you please look at this and tell if that is true. I am just trying to get more opinion on this.

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks drrick.

Would you consider receeded gums as active disease?

Also is there any proven way to recover the bone loss? Will it never recover on its own?

Thanks drrick.

Can linguals be applied even if there is bone loss?

My problem is receeded, which I understand is dueto bone loss.
Does treatment of receded gums using oil pulling help in recovery of lost bone as well?

Thanks for your reply.

Hi Drrick, Do you know if it possible to reverse the bone loss. My dentist said that my bone loss is so much that I cannot avail linguals.

What are the alternatives?

One of incisors, close to the one which is out of position, is a bit loose. I think that is becuase it does not get the support that it would have if the crooked teeth was in position? Could that be right? Will that be a problem in getting the linguals. When they put the wire, can they skip the loos...

Well to be frank, I want only a partial improvement because I do not want anyone to know that I am concious of my teeth and have gone for a correction. Currently my tooth is too deep-in so much so that it is makes me look bad while speaking let alone smiling and laughing. What I want to achieve is t...

Thanks Drrick for the reply. I am an adult in mid 30s. How long does it take, on average, before I can notice movement of teeth. I want to use it for 6 months max due to certain personal reasons. I would like to retain the improvement that comes in 6 months. I have heared for fixed retainers which a...

Thanks Drrick for the reply.

For me its only one tooth out of postion.
So if I need 6 brackets only, then the cost should be reduced, No?

Also I think if it is 6 brackets only, it would have lesser initial impact n speech. No? Perticularly when it is the upper jaw?

Only one tooth out of position

Hi,

One of my upper incisor is not in place. It is inside. I would be really thankfull if someone could tell me weather the lingual that will be fiited will run around the entire upper jaw or just around the croocked teeth.
