URGENT HELP: small lateral incisor/canine gap on right side

Hi, My ortho has said that my right lateral incisor is smaller than my left one. For months (I reckon over six-eight months), she has tried to close a gap between lateral incisor and canine tooth on that side that happened when the canine was moved over to better fit the bite. There is a persistent ...

Some orthodontists now believe that TADs (temporary anchorage devices) can be used to intrude one's molars in the case of a skeletal open bite in order to close the bite and avoid the need for surgery. Of course, this would be easier in a less severe case than a more severe case. This has been done ...

Yes, do not worry. I think my surgeon may have even said that bands are tighter than the wires, because the bands can be replaced over time, but the wires lose strength. Something like that!

The executives at Wellpoint/BCBS are bastards, but I read one post that said if you push hard enough on any plan for medical necessity, you can get it covered. Good luck!

Not sure, but it seems like a ton of pain! Maybe it's better just to go the slow route.

I think my surgeon said there was a 1/1,000 chance of this happening--in my case--perhaps your situation is different.

Numbness to feeling again?

I had double jaw surgery and have about 1/4 of my face (the right side of my nose, the upper right part of that part of my lip, and the immediate skin)--basically that quadrant--that is numb and tingling. How long have you guys found it takes for feeling to come back? My surgeon claims he did not cu...

Ohhhh, I didn't mean to scare anyone--it's just really hard, but most people do say that it is worth it in the end.

Post-surgery depression

Hi all, I just had upper and lower jaw surgery for severe open bite yesterday morning and am feeling pretty depressed. I can't talk at all--can only mumble--and can only drink/"eat" with a syringe. When I look in the mirror, I see someone swollen and different and worry that my friends wil...

Ohhhh...crazy. I am just worried I'll be so nervous/scared that they won't be able to put me out--like when you have trouble falling asleep because you're worried about something. I know I sound like a wimp/idiot...

Being put under!

Hi all, I have surgery on August 19th and most scared about "being put under" with the general anesthesiology at the beginning of the surgery. Can anyone describe what the experience is like? How is it not scary? Is it like falling asleep in bed at night or do you just feel like you go fro...

Holy molars! Please advise! (Molars touching in rear?)

Hi, I've talked to a couple surgeons who have said that after my anterior (front) open bite surgery my second molars may not touch in back, but that after a few months to a year they will grow together just fine--that's just "physiologically how it works," the surgeon told me. Does this so...

Come on guys. Please stop the arguing. And, if anyone knows of any doctors in ANY country that might be able to help do the surgery for less than a US doctor, please let me know. Thanks!

Surgery abroad? Medical tourism inquiry.

I know that many people on this board have had experiences (both good and bad) with Dr. Reiche in Costa Rica, but has anyone here gotten surgery done abroad (to save money) with another doctor in Costa Rica or elsewhere? Please let me know.
