Re: Sliding Genioplasty a cure to Lip Incompetence?
Hey ReoSity, is that sentence quoted word for word? I tried searching for it on Google Books and found the book but not the sentence. I would like to ask my surgeon about it because he has implied there is nothing that can be done. However as I would be doing the surgery to fix facial proportions to...

Re: Has anyone tried facial exercises and do they work?
I know what you mean! Personally I was considering cheek implants anyway - at the mment I have a line running from my inner eye/nose downwards/outwards on each side. Hopefully that will take up the slack at the same time! Good luck with seeking exercises

Re: unhappy with widening nostrils
It's to with tilting the jaw in turn tilts the position of the nose making it appear mor flared as I understand. The important thing to note is that it does not look worse but it is different - if you can recognise that then hopefully it won't worry you.

Re: Sliding Genioplasty a cure to Lip Incompetence?
I was able to find out if a vertical chin reduction would have any impact on how my (short) lips rest finally! The answer was provided by a Neal Goldberg, MD on the following Internet site: http://www.realself.com/question/jaw-long-face-lip I was personally very impressed as before I had been convin...

Hey Izzy, best of luck with the insurance company being your saviour, however if you do want to take the double jaw surgery then inconveniencing your surgeon a little is justified for such a life changing chance. Be strong! :) As for the pictures you first need to host them on a website such as Phot...

Hey thanks shanalouis! I agree it has made a remarkable difference and made the whole experience worth while up to now. :) To ReoSity: What is your bite like? Have you ever had braces? The BSSO at least was available on the basis of correcting my bite as opposed to fixing my lip incompetence. If you...

Do you think you could explain more what that assertion is based on? It's a bit of a sweeping statement so more info would be useful. It's a moot point here, though, since the OP needs lower surgery anyway. What's more relevant is whether double surgery carries more risk than lower alone. Izzy, fro...

My estimation was 7mm but subconsciously I was hiding the true size of the gap when measuring it. In reality the surgeon found it to be 11mm. As for expenses: BSSO - Free on the NHS Le Fort I - Free on the NHS Vertical genioplasty - Free on the NHS - possibly, otherwise £2000-£4000 Rhinoplasty - Fre...

Veneers are a bit of a scam, they correct your smile but they do nothing for your facial proportions. With the upper jaw surgery my smile did look better but by improving the proportions of my face it changed my whole appearance. Here is how I look now: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_PMfTCKIfEt8/TLotnDfBAhI/...

Hey Izzy, well it is definitely not standard to do the two jaws separately and the result is probably not as good as doing them together. My bite was perfect after the first surgery but now my front lower teeth hit my upper teeth. The orthodontist can probably correct this but because the braces hav...

I had the same decision to make but in a matter of minutes. Seeing the surgeon before the operation he enquired as to whether I felt I showed too much teeth/gum when I smiled, this is something I had never noticed before. My smile has always been one of my features so it seemed unnecessary to correc...
