Smoothing Of Tooth Edges

I'm 17 months in and was wondering everyone's experience on having some of the tooth edges filed. A few of my front teeth have some jagged edges at the bottom of them, I'm wondering if any one similar had their tooth edges smoothed when their braces came off or right before? I just don't see the poi...

Re: Can you prevent yellowing of teeth below the archwire?

If you brush 2-3 times a day, use mouthwash, and floss you really shouldn't worry about decalcification. I know on certain days I look at my teeth and feel like they're yellow behind the wires, but then I get told how white my teeth look? And, decalcification shows up as white, and are permanent les...

Re: Braces - estimated times

These times seem so short and make me jealous :( lol. My estimated time was 31 months. I'm in month 15 right now. I had some serious crossbite and crowding which is all nearly corrected, it's mainly bite work now.

I also know from experience that this particular brand does stain the teeth. Although it was thankfully all "cleaned/scraped" off by the hygenist at the next dental cleaning I wouldn't use it again just because of the fact that it does stain and it's not very attractive.

Right after my adjustments I would pop a peice of gum in and chew for the rest of the day. It would usually take me up to 6 hours for soreness to kick in but with this trick I didn't get sore. Wow, I never thought to use the gum trick BEFORE they were sore, only after! I would have never gotten thr...

I do the same thing, and I told my friend I can't help it! It's like since I'm fixing something about my teeth all I can focus on is what's messed up about other people's teeth and that's terrible. It's just what happens though..and I'm glad I'm not the only one.. I was beginning to feel a little st...

I have not and will not have any surgery and my metal bands have "cleats" on them as well. Most people I think have them on their bands. I think they are used for some types of elastics although I am not 100% sure.

I must be a lucky one.. I have never had any issues with the metal rubbing. I have never even used the abundance of wax they have given me. I was dreading it, but never had any problems.

I am also a daily gum chewer, sugar free only of course. It does not stick, and helps the pain greatly.

I have been asked "I bet that hurts doesn't it?", "How much is that costing you?", "How much longer do you have?", "Why didn't you get them clear or Invisalign?", and of course the statement "Your teeth weren't that bad before".

Hi Vulcan, Really excellent progress! You must be really chuffed! I'm interested in your experiences with the quad helix, as I am due to get one fitted next month (I've had braces on for about 6 weeks now). Did you find you had any speech issues with it? Good luck with the rest of your journey. Oh ...

It did take several months to notice a change. I don't think the Quad Helix is a rapid expansion device, but within a couple of more weeks/months you should be seeing results, even if it is a little.

I chew gum every day at least at some point during the day. Always sugar free, it never sticks, but I do always try to find a gum with Xylitol. It has helped me deal with the pain by stimulating the chewing action, and it makes your breath fresh ;)
