Re: Anyone switch doctors at end of treatment?

UPDATE: I have decided to stay with my ortho. He is in the final stages of "fine tuning", and I finally see some changes that are positive. I will go back in a month for another adjustment, then the next visit will be the de-bracing. It's been a long haul, and I will be SOOOOO glad to get ...

Anyone switch doctors at end of treatment?

My time estimate was 17 months. I'm already paid off, and two months overdue, and counting, time-wise. To me my teeth looked better five months ago. It seems to me now, that with each adjustment, my teeth look worse.....more like they were to start with. I'd really like to get another ortho to finis...

Re: 17 months & they're OFF! before, during, after

I am super impressed with your results in a reltively short time! You look terrific. It's never too late for braces.....I got 'em at 65, and now about 17 months later am looking at a de-banding in a few weeks. I don't think my results are going to be as spectacular as yours, but it will certainly be...

Re: teeth clenchers, how do you get on without niteguard

I'm a clencher too, and think that may have had something to do with my teeth shifting in the first place. I'm getting close to the de-bracing stage, and my regular dentist told me to ask for a night guard in the retainer I get. I told my ortho, and they said the retainer itself will act as a night ...

Re: Debracing date sometime soon, but problems...

After a lot of money and a lot of time, I sure would ask the ortho about anything that your aren't comfortable with. Be sure you're satisfied BEFORE they take the braces OFF. I can relate, because I'm concerned with two months to go, before my de-bracing. I ask about various things, every time I go ...

Top Front Teeth in Straight Line?

I'm coming down the home stretch, with only five months to go in wire braces. My top two front teeth were kind of V shaped, with the midline pointing out. It's better, but not straight across. I see pictures of beautiful smiles, and it looks like those two teeth are in a straight line. What are the ...

I'm early in my treatment, but at my next adjustment, I'm going to discuss with my ortho, what it is, that I expect. I've noticed lately, that I see people who I suspect have had braces, with tight little ovals of teeth.
I want my teeth wider, and a more straight across look on the front.

I got an Interplak from Wal Mart. They had another brand also, that the package said had a stronger jet, that was more expensive. This one seems to do a good enough job at knocking out the food particles.

At my consultation, they told me I'd be wearing retainers after my braces, at night, forever.

I've started conversations with several other adults with braces. There is an affinity....but if someone didn't look very friendly, I'd probably just smile!

Age 65 and full metal mouth. I was braced at about 13, and never had retainers....maybe they didn't have them then. Hopefully this time it'll be right and I'll be braces free in about a year and a half. Can hardly wait.

Uppers and bottoms on January 14th. I just had my first checkup today.
She told me the first 2 months were the worst, then it would get better.
At this point I'm tolerating......not loving my braces. Maybe by next checkup.

first checkup

I had my first appointment with the ortho today....nobody mentioned anything about the hooks, and I kept quiet. She told me the first two months were the hardest for the wires, and then I'd hardly notice them. I'm sticking with the wires.....I want the best results. My bottom teeth have noticibly mo...

Thanks Pattyb, Things have gotten better. I finally took some pliers and pushed on the hooks, and I think I bent them in closer, and it's a WHOLE lot better. My first 6 week appointment is tomorrow, and I'm not saying a thing to the ortho! I also lost some weight as eating is such an issue....then I...
