Re: Nervous about debanding?

I'm supposed to have a final check next month, then debanding in January. I'm a little nervous too. Afraid they will take them off and I won't like how they look. Also afraid I will have 'two-tone' teeth. But I don't want to wear them the rest of my life either. Good luck!

tooth into alignment?

I have had my braces for almost 18 months. I had severe crowding on the bottom and my ortho didn't put a bracket on one lower tooth due to it being way behind the others. Since my teeth have straightened out some, she has determined there is enough room to pull it into alignment. I will be getting a...

what are metal bands used for?

I've had my braces for almost a year. My ortho says she is going to put in some spacers and then some bands on my upper and lower first molars. I found a picture of these, but what are they used for?

I had 3 coil springs, two on top and still have one on the bottom. I know what you mean about it snagging your lip! I found I could rotate it as needed to keep the sharp part off my lip. Glad to have two of them out! And, no wax was not helpful there.

study models?

My ortho wants to do 'study models' 9 months into my treatment. When I scheduled this, the receptionist said 'there must be something going on there'. What? :?

If your teeth are needing to move quite a bit, they may use the same wire for a while. I have a lot of rotations, and have only had one wire change in just under 6 months.

I think it's perfectly normal for one tooth to ache now and then. I have had the same experience and when I went to the dentist for my cleaning, there was no signs of any decay. It will stop in a few days. I am biting down on a lot of my lower brackets and that makes things ache too.

Had an adjustment yesterday. They took out the 14 and 16 wires on the top and put just the 16 back on. They also put springs on each side of my rotated tooth to get it moving more. They managed to remove a few of the ties on the bottom and push the wire into more of the clips. Painful today! Still h...

I have the same situation on my lower arch...one tooth without a bracket and a spring. But the spring is fairly loose. I think they just want to keep the area open while the other teeth are straightening out. Thanks for your posts! How long will you be in treatment?

Thanks Whiskers! I wondered about the bite blocks, but thought maybe that might be worse. I really just want to eat normally again. Hopefully my teeth will get moving and I'll stop biting them so much. I don't go for another adjustment for 6 weeks yet. I'm hoping then she will reposition a few brack...

Two weeks later...still biting lower canine brackets (with 'pillows'). I have a feeling this is going to last a while. Had to adjust my chewing technique. I miss Doritos!

biting brackets?

I got my lower braces on about a week ago, after having the top ones two months. I still can't close my teeth without biting a couple of the lower brackets. I had two of the brackets repositioned (after biting one off) and 'pillows' put on top of them, but it didn't seem to help much. Has anyone els...
