Hi there I've just had the very same problem - one of my brackets is fixed to my porcelain crown, and two weeks after my first adjustment, this one pinged off as I was eating. I did get it fixed, though, as it was on the wire and was sliding around. The ortho didn't charge me for this - so I would s...

Hi Lynley How's it going? I hope nothing else has managed to work loose. I too have had to learn the art of wire-fiddling to get rid of those poky bits. I hate to think of you being deprived of donuts - one possible idea to avoid trouble is to tear off very small pieces of donut to eat - so you're &...

Hi Darlene - I feel for you! I have a trans-palatal arch, which goes across the roof of my mouth, and I thought that was bad enough. As the others have said, avoid stringy food - not worth the hassle. Another thing that can help, in my experience, is chopping your food up smaller than usual, so you ...

Hi Suzy I'd agree with the others - the spacers are the most annoying part of the treatment - possibly because having something wedged between your teeth is so unnatural. Your teeth will already have started to move. If you're anything like me, the metal bands will feel much less uncomfortable. (For...

Hi Tantan I'm glad you are feeling better. I have had my brace for about 6 weeks now. I only have the top teeth braced, but I have a trans-palatal arch, which goes right across the roof of my mouth. That really feels weird. I'm used to it now, but look forward to the day when it comes off! If you're...

Bracing up - dentalistaUK's story
Hi everyone
I have just started a blog about my brace and TPA fitting. I posted the details on other areas before finding this bit, but here are the details again: http://dentalista-bracingup.blogspot.com/
I look forward to seeing some of you on there - and best of luck with your own treatments!

Hi LASBrace and everyone - it's great to meet you guys! I got braced last Wednesday (20 January) and it was the first time ever for me. (I am 42.) I had no idea so many adults were getting this done. It's good in a way to see people having this done at the same time as me, so we are all in the same ...
