P.S- I wasn't saying "oh wow" like it's a bad thing... It was the first time I actually got to see ceramics on an actual person and not a model from a commercial. So I was like... absorbing info. Sorry if it came accross the wrong way :) No problem, wasn't sure if you were in shock over t...

Oh wow? Hmmm not sure if that is good or bad! :?:

My teeth are really small so the brackets look bigger on me.

I think that if someone is about 10 feet away, they may not notice them.

I have the clear brackets on top and I have no regrets. They are bigger, but I personally am much happier with the clear.

I am also a thruster! However, my ortho said that my thrusting did not cause my teeth to flare out. He said that the tongue does not put enough pressure on the teeth constantly to make them move. I'm trying to remember everything, but I think he said that I only push against my teeth when I'm swall...

Davi, I went to 3 different consultations, and one of the orthos suggested the mid-evil torture you're now going through with your tongue. I too was a thumb sucker and have tongue thrust. The ortho I went with said that the crib was unnecessary and that he felt my tongue would go back to pushing onc...

Bracy, it could have been me writing your post. I feel the same way. I try to get used to these nasty things. But then I get raw on my cheek and tongue so I have to put wax on just so it can heal. All of a sudden today my cheek is raw again. I'm still not good at putting the wax on so that it stays ...

Hi Bracy! Sounds like you are having as much trouble with the bands and cleats as I am. I went in once and asked them to adjust the cleats by smashing them down. the next week I sent my husband in to get some more wax for me. I did ask them to remove the cleats but they told me that the Dr needs the...

Resurrecting this thread.

Is anyone else having problems with cleats or seating lugs?

My ortho has tamped them down flat but they still bug me a LOT. My tongue is raw on the sides even tho I have put wax on the cleats. I'm trying to get used to them, but after two weeks I'm still whining!

Hi Tantan, How are you feeling today? Do you feel sick to your stomach, nauseated? Yes, the braces do feel like something huge is attached to your mouth, and the first week I felt very aware of them. It's been two weeks now since I got the top braces and I'm feeling much better. The upper braces di...

sounds like you've started off well, good for you! :D

I also have very small teeth, and have never felt great about my smile either. Hopefully he can do a little tweaking on that and my smile will look like soap opera teeth!!

The anticipation can really be the worst part. I had 4 extractions when I got braces the first time at 23. it wasn't so bad, your mouth heals quickly. I don't have the same brackets you mentioned, but I do have clear instead of metal. http://i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy355/braced_2010/2-3-10.jpg

I think we got our braces at about the same time. I got my uppers on last Monday and the lowers on today. I'm trying to go without wax until I just can't take it anymore, then I put it on to heal my cheeks. The cleats on the inside of the bands are bothersome as well. I wish they could take them off...
