I've had my powerchains on for 3 days now, the first two days were really difficult. I'm still having problems with tenderness, but I haven't seen any movement.

I figure once I feel the wire coming out the back of my molar, I'll know I've had something significant happen.

Re: Molar Bands hard on the tongue

Do they make molar bands with a smooth surface on the tongue side? I have bands with the little grooves to accommodate head gear of which I am not going to need. Seems that putting in bands with grooves on a person who will not require their use is just adding grief for no reason...? Ugh! I feel th...

First Adjustment - Can you see a difference?

Ok, I got out my micrometer, and I think there was a tiny bit of movement since first getting braced on 2-1. What do you think? I now have .018 wire on both top and bottom. Not too much discomfort at the moment! Today 3-22 http://i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy355/braced_2010/IMG_1501.jpg Brace day, ...

Oh Jethro, you lived through my worst nightmare! I'm sorry your co-worker was so thoughtless. I think for me it was part of #2, I didn't really know how bad my teeth were because I had so much bonding on them I thought they looked good! It wasn't until this last year when they started moving so much...

Oh yeah, my lisp was BAD! I have so much space between my top teeth that the air would not only whoosh through my teeth, but whoosh around the wire and brackets as well. When talking on the phone at work I think people felt I was drunk and slurring my words! Its much better now, but I'm waiting to s...

I go in for my first adjustment on Monday, its been about 6 weeks since I got braced. My tongue only hurts on the left side, I have a permanent sore from rubbing against the cleats. I've asked 3 times to get them to push them down but they keep telling me its the best they can do. Also the bracket o...

I've taken advice from another post to help keep the ligs cleaner. I use part water and part hydrogen peroxide to rinse the ligs. I find it works better if I put the mixture in my water pik and concentrate on the ligs.

Any staining was due to what I ate and my hygiene habits!! They were able to match the teeth VERY well. The ortho didn't think I had that much bonding done, he couldn't tell.

Add me to the 50+ club! I haven't had mine on very long either. Took me about the same amount of time to get used to them, about a month. I packed on the wax overnight to give my mouth some healing time. Then I tried to stick it out during the day.

Good luck!

Audra, I feel the same way you do. I also was concerned about what comments I would receive. Sometimes, I am surprised that no one says anything.

But frankly, I don't think anyone cares! I mean I sure do care and I initially thought others would too. Just not the case!

I posted my photos in another thread showing my teeth with bonding, and without. http://archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=34094&highlight= I was extremely shocked at how much bonding we had done over the years, it certainly got away from me. The bonding is easier than having a filling, and it...
