Re: any one try the non-surgical route first
Any one went through extractions and opted for the non-surgical route first. If yes, Later on after several year, when you did decide to have the surgery how did ur ortho prep you for surgery? Did those past extractions need implants or did the ortho had to flare ur teeth back to the original bad b...

3 weeks update- I've been back to work since monday. I actually survived these 9 hour days fairly easily. Lunchtime is a pain, and my teeth ache even on soft foods. (similar feeling to the next day after a brace adjustment) I only have a finger gap between upper and lower jaws, and that is worrying...

Oh man, that sucks. You've waited so long for this. Perhaps you can ask your surgeon : Why do other surgeons recommend a liquid diet and elastics post-op and he doesn't. Not blasting but definitely confronting him. Could you possibly ask your physician to refer you to another oral surgeon for a sec...

Re: JAW SURGERY! Anyone from Canada??
So I'm considering jaw surgery since my consultation with an orthodontist and he said I would need Le Fort I, I would need upper jaw surgery and possibly lower. I was told I had a case of long face syndrome, where I have lip incompetence, a gummy smile (well kinda). I've had braces before when I wa...

Davide, SOrry to hear about your predicament, but there is some improvements from the surgery right? As for the advancement of the lower jaw, I think there is a limit or it gets risky- I know you mentioned bone grafts etc. there is also the nerve that runs along the lower jaw - this nerve gets stret...

The appliance is permanent I got to see the my xray the other day and saw all the gear in my jaw pretty cool! Even if the suregon wants to take it off after the bone heals.. I will refuse. :) With surgery there is always risks, that is why they make you sign a huged waiver during pre-admissions and ...

Hi rev, well the swelling has gone down substantially but it is till there. Perhaps 2 more weeks it will be non existent. I'm glad everything went well!! It is indeed amazing/interesting how cold it is in the operating room. I was worried that my surgeon's hands would be too cold to operate!! He told me that he and the staff need it cool because they get pretty warm doing the surgery. So you have bands on your surgica...

Re: Elastic bands following surgery
Why do you have to wear elastic bands after oral surgery On my day of discharge a doctor came and said I have to wear bands, stuck a couple in my mouth and told me where they should go. What I forgot to ask was why I had to wear them, are they a necessary part of the healing process?? My problem is...
