8 1/2 Month in....

Had another adjustment today and everything seems to be progressing great. Doc said that my teeth are moving super fast and that my cross-bite is fixed already after 6 weeks of the elastic in the back. It looks like I will finish early - oh man, I can't say how happy I'm to hear that. The powerchain...

Vertical Bands

I have vertical bands and the bend archwire like you mentioned I believe, but only have it for a couple of weeks now. I am supposed to wear them 24/7 and I wear them as much as possible, but since I can't talk or open my mouth when they are on, sometimes I have to take them out to work and can't wea...

Pain

I am totally with you on this one. I had no idea how painful it would be. I have been through so many teeth related issues, fillings, root canals and crowns and never had problems with the pain. I even had a lot of fillings without being numb and could handle it. However..the whole braces thing is m...

My Open Bite opened further during the teeth alignment. I just started elastics lately and it's now more closed than it has ever been. I would say it's normal and it will be closed with elastics, but you can always ask your Dr. again. :)

Eat in Public

Yeah, it's definitely not the same. I am a big fan of eating at home or take-out these days. If it was up to me I wouldn't eat much in public but every now and then I can't get around it. In that case I try to order something that is easy to chew and that will least get stuck in my teeth. Soup if I ...

I have clear brackets on top and metal on bottom and I'd do it like this again. I like that the top ones are less noticeable and since my lower teeth aren't really shown much when I speak I didn't mind the metal ones. So far nothing has broken off...no problems with any of the brackets whatsoever. I...

It's good to know that we are all on the right way. Best of luck with the braces, I'm sure you'll love the re...

Powerchain and Elastics

Ok, so yesterday I got a powerchain and my first elastics. Holy WOW for the pain. If I wasn't on antibiotics already I would consider pain killers - but I don't want to put more into my body... So yesterday I just tried to tough it out which mostly consists of couch time and TV under a blanket. This...

Ok, I figured I'll post some pictures of the development. :) The last couple of weeks everything seems to be very slow, but oh well... we'll see. :) Shortly after getting braces - early Feb. 2010 http://uploadpic.org/thumb-55679.jpg March 2010 http://uploadpic.org/thumb-55680.jpg April 2010 http://u...

Wire not hooked into two brackets?

Hi, I just wanted to know whether it's normal that during treatment that the wire isn't locked into two brackets at some point. We are trying to close an extraction gap on the lower left and I just realized that the wire isn't locked into two back brackets on the right. Is this so that the gap can c...

Went in today and got secondary molar bands. (I thought so, but hey - at least the spacers are finally gone.) They took my wire out and I was able to floss and brush which is very nice, my new band is a number 18? Closing the doors was soo painful, OMG!!! The tooth next to my extraction site is turn...

Ok, the process is moving..I had two extractions today. I lost my #12 to make room and to have space to move my mid-line. I also got my #16 wisdom tooth removed. The whole process wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'll have to get used to the holes and I hope that they close pretty fast. I am ...

Ok, i had my extractions today with my braces on. I have my braces for about 5 weeks now and they just took the bracket off my tooth #12 and pulled it. The wire and everything on, no problem. They also pulled my #16 wisdom tooth. All in all it was not such a big deal. I was far more nervous than I n...
