I'm in the same boat as you. Had my surgery 3 months ago, and so far I've been displeased with the final result. The bite is perfect, but from an angle or two, the symmetry isn't exactly there. Every visit to the OS, they said they didn't notice anything and it was perfect. It must be in my head, I ...

hey Davide, what's going on? why do you need a second surgery? do you mind posting before and after pics? also, are you doing it with the same surgeon?

40 day post-op I'm completely back to normal. I always thought I was a quick healer, but wow. There is a significant change in appearance, which I am thankful for. The bite is perfect. However, the right jawline is just a tiny bit off to the right. The OS last week said it's still early, and to give...

Bitewonder: it's nice to see you're noticing the changes. I too have faster healing on one side, the left side is a little more swollen. I would suggest u go out daily for walks or to the mall. Staying at home is counter productive. I actually started going out after a week, I remember I was still s...

Hey Davide, looks like you're turning it around after the first week of frustrations. Just be strong man. I may be healing faster, but that's because of my positive attitude and strong drive to get back to my daily routines. Take it slow, and start doing things u were normally doing. Yesterday it se...

There is no reason to worry. Calculate your daily calorie intakes for the next few days, and try to maintain that number during your recovery.

3 weeks update- I've been back to work since monday. I actually survived these 9 hour days fairly easily. Lunchtime is a pain, and my teeth ache even on soft foods. (similar feeling to the next day after a brace adjustment) I only have a finger gap between upper and lower jaws, and that is worrying ...

ok so I just had my 2 weeks post op visit with the OS. He's asked me to wait another 2 weeks to start working out, so I'm guessing 1 month in is appropriate. He's asked me to hold off basketball as he's afraid any minor "bump" might damage the frail jaw position. I'll be checking in with h...

so I saw my OS today ( 2weeks post-op ) and he loved the bite position and my healing progress so much that he removed my elastics!! he also upgraded me to soft foods, thank god because I've gotten so sick of soups and ensure. I also lost 15 pounds, and looked sort of frail. I just had mashed potato...

working out / bodybuiding / sports?

How soon can I start working out and playing sports again? I used to work out 5 days a week prior to the surgery and play basketball on a team once a week. I've had to put all that on hold for now. I'm 10 days post op. How soon can I start doing some physical exercise?

were you given extra elastics? i wasn't and mine are still on, however i've been able to open my mouth a few inches already (1 week post-op) and my elastics are now stretched and useless.

5 day post-op: some swelling has gone down although not as much as i'd hoped. i'm getting cramped up and bored, i'd love to go out as long as my face looks half-decent. we're even getting some great weather this week, so it'd be a rly good time to get out. i tried to skip some morphine last night be...

welcome to the other side davide. the worst is behind us, only good things to come from now. my surgery was perfect as planned as the surgeon says, and i only had to stay at the hospital 2 days. I've been home for the last 3 and bored out of my mind. i know this is a patience game and to stay positi...
