I just had surgery in February in NYC with Dr. Ira Sturman and Dr. Brian Bovino at St. Luke's and Roosevelt Hospitals.

I had no complications and my orthodontist is very happy with the results. I was treated for open bite, cross bite and over bite.

Good Luck!

Gaps after genioplasty

Hi Fellow Jawbreakees, I'm 9 weeks post op from upper jaw and genioplasty. My X-rays show the bone cuts on the jaw are fully healed but not on the chin. In fact I can feel the gaps where my chin was moved. My ortho said he was a little concered about the width of the gaps. Did anyone have a similar ...

Hey cheeksara I'm so glad you are on the mend! Jac... getting your braces off so soon? I couldn't be more jealous! I passed the three week mark on Thursday and OS are still happy with everything. Said I could take the elastics off to eat and I was thrilled, not realizing how hard it is to eat withou...

Tomorrow is Day 14! Whoo hoo! Victories: I finished my antibiotics... so happy because they tasted disgusting all crushed up and I started drinking from a cup on Saturday!! Swelling has gone down a lot but still a bit in my cheeks, chin and lips. Still numb but getting some tingles once in awhile. S...

Hey BB So glad to hear your cross over went well! Wow, eggs already? I'm impressed! Just wanted to chime in on the congestion thing... I was having the same problem and my OS told me to take Sudafed because the spray might not make it all the way back there and it doesn't do anything for the congest...

60cc syringe wrestling match

Hi All, I'm wondering if anyone has been having problems using the 60cc syringe to "eat." After a few days mine get so hard to pull that they become unusable. It seems that something happens to the black rubber stopper. Anyone else experiencing this or have any solutions? Also wondering ho...

On the other side of the traxx

Hi Everyone, Thanks so much for thinking of me. I started to tear up seeing the messages wishing me luck! I'm so grateful for all the love and support on this board. I'm at day 3 post op and it's been a rough ride. I've already lost five pounds and the antibiotics are reaking havoc on my intestines....

I can definitely relate! I know how it feels to have all of your "flaws" pointed out. It's a relief to know that yes there is something wrong and that it's fixable but things you just always accepted about yourself suddenly don't seem acceptable anymore. This is a tough road we walk. It ma...

Doctor gave me meds to gain for surgery

I'm barely five feet and have never weighed 100 pounds... until about two weeks ago. My doctor put me on two medications to stimulate my appetite because he would not clear me for surgery until I gained at least 15 pounds. None of my clothes fit and I feel really uncomfortable. This Thursday I'm sch...

New February buddy

Hi, I've been reading posts on this site since getting braced two and a half years ago and finally this Thursday the 18th I'm scheduled for upper jaw and genioplasty. I've been ready for surgery since August but have been through a series of delays having to do with switching surgeons, insurance bat...
