1. The human body is perfectly capable of digesting almost anything swallowed whole. 2. Extractions take five minutes. Stop worrying. 3. Many of your adult acquaintances will actually be envious. 4. Sorry, you can't find pictures of other people's teeth which used to look like yours and are now read...

You could have a Class III malocclusion (aka dental Class III), skeletal Class III, or both. I seem to have Class I malocclusion on one side and III on the other, but can't find much info on similar cases.

As they age, many people store less fat on their arms/legs/head and store proportionally more fat around the abdomen. So, it could just be that you are losing any remaining baby fat. Also, if you are getting thinner because the orthodontia makes it hard to eat enough or you are exercising or whateve...

Did you regret it or suffer from any ill effects, other than simply knowing there are more teeth on the bottom? My ortho said if I only extract two, then it may cause abnormal wear on some teeth later.

My ortho told me today (3 weeks into treatment) that I can choose whether to have just 2 lower premolars extracted, or go ahead with extracting the 2 uppers as well, either at the same time or later. She said we could go either way because the top teeth are not crowded, but leaving the teeth on top ...

As a follow up to my earlier post: The problem bracket was re-attached today using a chemical cure instead of a light cure. My ortho said some studies show the light cure is stronger, but because of the type of tension caused by the adjacent canine, she felt a chemical cure would be better. I notice...

I am having the same problem. When I got my braces last month, the only point of contact I felt when biting down was where one top incisor hit the bracket below it. After a couple days, my teeth moved around just enough that I did not notice it quite so much. Meanwhile, I tried not to bite down full...

I had a very similar experience as vonjo27, including buying my own car and paying for college, etc., only I waited until age 33 to get braced. Oh, and my older sister has perfect teeth because she got braces while I didn't. Used to bother me, but I've made my peace.

I drink anything and everything, but I brush after drinking something that might stain. Why are your options limited?

Am I a Class I or Class III? Do I really need 4 extractions?

I am wondering, has anyone else been told by different orthodontists that they have different bite classes? I had an underbite as a child, but this was corrected with an appliance, though I still have a very prominent chin. I have been told since then that I have a Class III bite with crowding on th...

33 Year Old Lawyer, Should Get Out in 18 to 24

Long time reader, first time poster. Here's my story: Like many, I've always wanted pearly white, impeccably straight teeth. I would have probably been satisfied with eggshell-hued, not-so-noticeably-crooked teeth that hadn't started to decay seemingly while I was still in utero. Heck, I'd even take...
