Re: Teeth shifting even with retainers
Thanks for the reply Jethro- your situation sounds similar to mine so hopefully my Hawley wire can be adjusted and fix things.

Teeth shifting even with retainers
Well I finally was debraced a little over a week ago and I was given Hawley retainers. I've been wearing them and my bottom teeth are staying put, but my top teeth are another story. When I got my braces off, all of my top teeth were perfectly straight and aligned. A few days later I noticed my inci...

Worried about talking with retainers
Yay! My braces are finally coming off in two weeks after a much longer treatment than I was told. I'm so excited to get rid of these things, but now I'm starting to get worried about the retainers. I had to get Hawley ones which I didn't really want and I'm starting to freak out that I will always t...

starting to lose faith in my ortho...
ok- I just had to vent for a minute- and ask if this plan of action makes any sense... A while back in my treatment my ortho started closing my extraction gaps (bottom molars were removed), then she realized that my back teeth were crooked so she wanted to work on getting them upright again, in the ...

Re: elastics rubbing on side of lips- help!
The blisters are right in the corners- so I guess a little on the inside and a little on the outside? I wore elastics the previous month but in another position and had no reaction, plus I've never had an allergic reaction to latex before so I'm thinking it is just the rubbing. I think I will pick u...

elastics rubbing on side of lips- help!
My ortho has me wearing my elastics in a new position and ever since I have started wearing them this way they are rubbing the corners of my lips. I know have what look like little blisters on each side of my mouth, which needless to say looks awful. I only wear the elastics at night and I have been...

Re: BRACES SIDE EFFECTS: thinned my face and head.
I'm sorry that this happened to you- I had two extractions and my face has also changed dramatically- mainly it is my cheeks that have sunk in. My ortho never mentioned this to me when discussing braces and my only hope is that things don't get any worse! KreyFL - what is this device you are talking...

Re: Open bite turning into overbite!
Thanks for the reply, I did ask my ortho and she said the bottom teeth will move back up a little after the elastics are off. I'm wearing in a different position now and I do notice the overbite is not as pronounced.

Open bite turning into overbite!
So I have been in elastics (I wear them @ 12 hours a day) for a month starting to work on closing my open bite. I've had two extractions to try and pull my bottom teeth back as well. Well, already my bottom teeth have moved waaaay back but I still have tons of pretty big gaps between some of my teet...

Re: Do you think orthos give the standard of Two Years just
I also don't think braces time is tied to length of payment. Although I wish it was- I was told I'd have braces for 20-22 months, but I paid them off after 5- somehow I don't think this will shorten my time lol!

Re: I can't close my mouth!
I also have the same problem since day one of braces- and 8 1/2 months later my molars still don't touch properly. My ortho assures me they will at some point- but I'm still waiting

just started elastics and have a few questions
So I finally am starting to wear elastics and have to say they aren't as bad as I thought. Thankfully I only have to waer them at least 12 hours a day so I don't have to teach in them. Although they don't effect my speech at all! Anyway I was just wondering...should I use a new set of elastics every...

Re: What must we 'never' eat
When I first got my braces- I was so carefully about eating things, but now I'd have to say I don't even think about it. I chew gum all the time, shove popcorn in my mouth and eat nuts (just a few though). I think your mouth gets used to the new way of eating- so I say don't deprive yourself of anyt...

I'm in the same boat as the last poster-no brackets on the bottom back molars. I have powerchains to move my teeth BACk not forward. My ortho said she does not want my back two molars moving forward at all- so I'm assuming I'll never need brackets on the back molars. It all depends on what direction...

I can totally relate- after the first week I was so happy I got my braces and didn't mind them at all. Now 3 months in and I can't wait for this to be over! My adjustments are sooo painful ( I've been taking 1 advil- I think I'm going to have to up it to 2) as they try to close my extraction gaps. I...
