I'm sure you will see a difference with your profile. You will end up with a much more balanced profile, especially side on. You may not notice a huge difference when looking face on - if you know what I mean. Sounds like you're having the same surgery as me, although I have not had mine yet. My ort...

I still eat popcorn. Going to the movies feels so empty without popcorn. I just steer clear of the hard bits, and clean my teeth well when I get home. I find it really hard to eat a burger when my teeth are sore. And I love Twisters from KFC, mainly for the Twister sauce. So I went to KFC and asked ...

I thought the SARPE is the expansion of your upper jaw? I'm not sure. I'm a bit confused with the upper jaw surgery I'll be getting. I think it's either an expansion or compaction... I need to verify this with my ortho. I'm also getting a lower jaw advancement. Not sure what the name of this is eith...

I thought orthodontists don't extract any front teeth. I got my lower 2nd premolars out though. I'd also be interested to see who else has had those front teeth out. Did you get a second opinion before going ahead with the extraction?

Yeah I know. The wire reacts to your own body heat and wants to revert to it's natural arched position - or something along those lines. I just don't feel the pressure release when I have something cold.

I suppose I didn't receive all the support I would have liked. One of the reasons (one of many) for getting braces was that I want to have a nice smile for my wedding day. I know some people may find that stupid, but I am honestly sick of making a stupid face when I smile - all because of my teeth. ...

Ok I definitely feel the difference now. My teeth are much more sore than when I first got my braces on. Especially my molars. They hardly hurt before, but now I can't eat anything besides mashed potatoes! Even soft fish hurt like hell. And my teeth don't come together the way they used to. They're ...

I just had my first adjustment too (braced on March 10). And I too have damon braces. He did change my wire, and I was thinking 9 weeks was a long time to wait for an adjustment. He put another wire in and said he'd see me in 10 weeks time - which I thought was too long, but decided to just see how ...

Heat-activated archwire

I just had my first adjustment yesterday and my Ortho said he's putting in a heat-activated archwire. Anybody have these before? I tried doing a search on here but all the posts were really old so thought I'd just ask the question in a new thread. It's a thicker wire, was really hard to feed them th...

This happened to me too. I broke my teeth when I was young and one of my front teeth died as a result. But ever since I got braces another tooth has died - one of my top canines. The dentist said it's probably due to the trauma I had years ago, and now it has finally carked it. I just hope no more o...

Is my tooth dead?

Ok, just a bit of background information: When I was young, I broke my two front teeth. The first time I was on a skateboard and skidded on my face, then second time I fell down the starts are landed on my face. One of my front teeth broke right up at the root, so it's essentially in two pieces - th...

Just one thing: If a girl looks at you and judges you based on what your teeth look like or because you have braces, then they don't deserve your attention. I don't care what people think about my braces. Not to say I'm the most self confident person in the world - far from it - but when it comes to...

The thing I worry about sometimes is having a reaction to the anaesthetic. I hear that it makes some people feel sick after surgery, any surgery not just jaw surgery, and they end up vomiting when they wake up. I have a really weak stomach, and lots of things make me gag - like the texture of avocad...

Just got my braces!

I just got my upper braces on yesterday. I walked out of the orthodontist office smiling, and haven't stopped! I have Damon metals and they don't look bad at all. It didn't hurt at all either, just some pressure. Although, towards the end of the day yesterday my teeth started to ache a little bit. T...
