Re: Freshly debraced !!!

Thank you all for your kinds words! No pics, I am afraid. @ Julie FL - I was told it would be about 18 months. But the treatment was ahead of scedual since early on she said I'll get my lowers after 6 months, but I got them after 4,5 months, so I guess my teeth were good in obbeying :) @Nifer237 - f...

Freshly debraced !!!

:jump: I got debraced this saturday after 15 months in braces! (I'll have to change my timetracker now :) ) I loved my braces, they gave me no trouble what-so-ever, and now that they are out, I love them even more. My teeth are beautiful. They are straight, they are even (my ortho filing them helped...

Re: wax question

My advice with waxing is that before you put it on, open your mouth and take a few breaths, so the braces/teeth "dry" a bit. It's much easier to put wax on on dry braces!

Re: Foods you try to get away with having braces...

I chew gum but not often, I eat nuts sometimes but very carefully, I eat cooked not raw carrots...*knocks on wood* nothing happened so far! The only thing I am afraid of now but looking very forward to eating again is caramel. I also don't bite into thick things, like a thick sandwich or a burger; i...

"opening" bobbypins; before braces, when I wanted to put a bobbypin in my hair, I just slit it open on my teeth. Have to do it before now, and it's complicated to hold oyur hair and opening teh bobbypins... Removing gloves; when you have your hands full, and you just want to take one (pref...

Re: loose teeth??

Even after a year, mine are not as they were; they are not wobbly loose, just not strong; like I can't rip things apart with teeth (you know those cosmetics tester packages you get in magazines and stuff? And sometimes you can't open them with your fingers and you try it with your teeth? Can't do it...

Re: You can really tell how crooked your teeth are.....

Make a picture of your teeth now, and when you'll look at it a few months later, you'll feel such happiness that it's no longer that staring at you in the mirror!
It' really worth it!

Re: Ceramic braces on lower teeth. Risk?

Aren't they suppose to put something on your teeth in case teeth hit on the brackets to prevent that? I've had it done... She put the same thing that is used in a filling on my back teeth, so my ppers and lowers didn't clash. But then I don't have metallic or ceramic, I have in-ovation C and it look...

Re: elastics rubbing on side of lips- help!

I don't wear them for a day or so to give it time to heal, when my elsastics rub me the wrong way

Also - are you drinking enough? I know dry mouth are a you-are-in-braces-curse but when I wake up with my mouth really dry, I can feel the elastics impressions on my "mouth wall"!

Re: Teeth Left Out?

I don't have my wisdom teeth out yet, and my last molars (top & bottom) aren't braced, either. I don't know if there is correlation in that, just letting you know that you are not alone :)

Re: Dissatisfaction with braces after one year

Wow, that Is a LOT you feel is wrong. Probably more than anyone on this board can address in whole (I think it's ok to vent here, but that's a lot to digest). I've learned a few things in my 1 year (think you can make certain judgements after that time period, but not final judgements): 1) If you d...

Re: Shy Smiles

Deciding on getting it done and waiting and being embarassed is the hard part. Once they are on, you know it can only get better! (even though, sometimes it does get worse, but since you know it's all with a goal it's ok :D )

Good luck!!

Re: impacted wisdom teeth and braces

I would do extractions before. Before I had my braces installed, she (my ortho)told me all my teeth have to be healthy and ready for treatment - and I would say wisdom teeth that need to come out fall into that chategory :D Also - if the wisdom teeth are out, it means more room for shifting other te...

Re: Is this normal?

Having to develop new chewing habits is very normal for people in braces. Try not to get frustrated but see it as a way to learn new things. Like - how many dishes you can find that you don't have to chew? There are tons out there, realy! As for teeth not touching - it doesn't have to mean they will...
