Re: Help - can't get a hold of surgeon's office
TRC- ugggg I totally feel for you and can completely relate. I was in the ER 5 days post op. I had surgery on a Monday and didn't start to feel better AT ALL until the following Sunday...almost a full week post op. That being said, once I started feeling better I got better very quickly. So HANG in ...

Re: To anybody who's already had jaw surgery...
As long as you research and know what you are getting yourself into you will be just fine. The first week for me was torture but after that first week I have been so happy and haven't looked back!! Even though that first week was rough, I knew everything I was going through was normal because of the...

Re: Is this normal or have I really screwed up my face?
Please don't worry! there is still a TON of swelling at one week post op- in fact at my 5 month post op he told me I still have *slight* residual swelling. I know it is hard but one week post op I still didn't even feel well enough to get out of bed so you are already doing great!
Hang in there!

Re: Please Help!!...Trouble breathing after surgery (nasal)
Peak day of swelling is day 5. I think a humidifier is crucial. I also used Vicks plug in waterless vaporizer scent pads. It helped clear my nose (slightly but ever little bit counts after surgery). Be sure you are sleeping elevated. The more elevated the better. I slept in a recliner for a month. I...

Re: SEPTEMBER 2010 BUDDIES!!
Chicago- I KNOW! It is crazy to think that how fast it has gone! It really seems like yesterday that I was getting my braces on, getting ready for surgery, feeling like total shiat after surgery, swollen, then getting better and better each day and now we are DONE! Except I did read that you are thi...

Re: Numb tongue?
For me the tounge was the only thing that wasn't numb. Other than that, I was one of the lucky ones who was numb from the eyes down to my chin. Good times. Three and a half months later all of my feeling is returning other than the roof of my mouth which is still TOTALLY numb and my chin is about 50...

Re: October buddies
Rizzie- I think it is me overanalyzing my "new look". It seems like my nose is a smidge wider and maybe turned up a bit. BUT everyone I have mentioned it to looks at me like I am crazy. I am hoping that once the braces are off that I stop picking apart myself so much!!

Re: October buddies
Hello!!! How is everyone doing? I am feeling great for the most part. My feeling is slowly coming back in my lower lip and ching...I would say about 50% back. The roof of my mouth is still totally numb. Strange feeling! I love the new profile. I feel like my nose still looks a bit strange on my face...

Re: A bit of a panic
So sorry to hear that your son was having so much trouble. I remember writing on my dry erase board " I can't breathe" time after time and they just kept telling my my oxygen rates were fine. It was so so rough...the first week was really pure h*ll for me! I kept telling my husband why did...
