Re: How long did it take for you to get braced?
I got my treatment and payment plan the day of my initial consultation, no waiting. It seems weird you have to wait so long for yours. Have you called them? Maybe you should get a second consult. Maybe it's a bad sign about how this office operates. When you have braces it's nice being able to coun...

As a matter of fact, just a few hours ago! :) I thought my ortho was only going to explain me how the treatment would be lik...

Re: 28 year old female, 2 months into my Damon Braces
So, I'm 28 and decided to get braces this year. I've always been self conscious about my smile and never show my teeth in photos. The reason is that I have a slightly gummy smile and what I thought were small teeth. I met a girl who had Damon Clear braces and was inspired to look into braces becaus...

Wow, our cost is identical for an 18 month treatment time! I, however, have all metal Damon braces.LittleSern wrote:Damon System, 12-18 months, $6300

Congratulations on making the decision to move forward and I look forward to reading about your experience. I think 3 weeks in, you should be mostly over the initial soreness, just be careful of what you eat as you don't want to be stuck with broken brackets or wire on your vacation!

Re: PhDGuy's orthodontic journey - better late than never!
Your braces look good! Sounds like your first days were pretty traumatic, I hope things are settling down now!!! Thanks Prof! Things were indeed pretty traumatic initially and are settling down fast. I suppose part of it is my increased tolerance to the braces and part of it I can attribute to my m...

Re: What should I buy before braced appt?
OK. So I'm getting my braces within the next 2 weeks. And I'm just wondering what are some good things to have. I'm buying some soft foods. But is there anything that made the first few days easier? You already have the soft foods covered. Other than that, invest in a Waterpik if you can as flossin...

Re: Look what can happen in 1 year!
Hi PhDGuy, The only time I felt like braces got in the way was when I first got them. I did it in the middle of the semester and just showed up with braces one day. I was pretty embarrassed and decided to just pretend that everything was normal. Only three people made comments (my PhD student, one ...

Re: Brackets placed extremely close to gumline?
I agree with what ItsFreyja has said. Your ortho knows what he/she is doing and the bracket placement is dependent on what the needs for your specific case are. From what I understand, If the teeth need to be extruded, the bracket will be placed closer to the gingival surface of the tooth and if the...

Re: Wonky to Wonderful: My Smile Renovation
Wow, lots of movement and your arches have rounded up beautifully in two months! I also noticed that you had an overbite/deepbite in your very first few pictures but now it looks like your bite is open. Is that because of bite ramps or by purpose or just an artifact related to the angle of the camer...

Welcome to the board and congratulations on making the decision to get started. Our timelines seem very similar and before you know it, you will be done with braces already. I'm already one month in to my journey and can't believe how fast time has gone.

Re: Getting braces on Wednesday. 41 yes old.
I'm 3 weeks in and honestly I can say there hasn't been much pain for me - I would call it discomfort rather than pain. The absolute worst pain so far was the 2 weeks before my braces when I had to wear those dreaded spacers between my molars - agony is an understatement lol! Good luck for today an...

Re: Lunch time brushing
I also work in a university environment, a research lab, more specifically and I keep a couple of travel size toothpastes, an interdental brush, an orthodontic (v shaped) brush, and a bottle of mouthwash in my drawer at work. At first, I was pretty embarrassed to go brush my teeth in the common bath...
